Hi everyone i'm new to ecigs and currently t minus 2 days till I kill off my last pack of cigs. I just purchased a Joytech Evic Supreme with a Protank 3 today and while I wait for it to get to me in NYC I figured I'd stock up on as much more info as I can. I'm a 15 year smoker and after 75% of my team at work quit including the boss I figured it wasn't much fun standing outside sucking cigs by myself anymore. The lady friend was getting tired of the smell and I'm getting tired of hearing that I smell.

Hope everyone is having a good one and I hope to learn some new stuff here.

Welcome! I think you will like the Evic Supreme and protank. However, not to scare you, but have extra batteries... this unit has a "heart beat" and mine kills batteries a lot faster than any other device I currently have. If this is your only MOD, get a total of 3 unless you will be using it on pass through a lot.... don't want to get caught without it working and pick up a pack of smokes, right. As for the Protank, I have a 2 and 3mini... You might want to look into an air control base for it from a brick store. I wasn't completely happy with the 2 and able to quit smoking until I found out about this "add on". If you need help, can always PM me, I'll help if I can.

Congrats on making the switch.. as a guy who recently switched, trust me its not nearly as hard as it was the dozens of other times attempted to quit.. And as another person who felt in way over my head and joined/ lurked to get as much information, this place is GREAT for jjust about everything you could want to know.
don't be intimidated. You already did the hardest part; you set a quit date, bought your supplies, and signed up. The rest is downhill :)

(psst, yo, hiimj01, , yea, you, cummere, listen. Lemme tell you, innabout a week after you stop, maybe even sooner, you are gonna smell another smoker. And you gonna think, OMG, I usta smell like dat??? )

To my fellow New Yorker: Congrats on your purchase. Best of luck. After ten months (after 40 years) this was the easiest quit. And the last!

Great start!

  • +1 on the extra batteries, tanks & juice
Backups for the backups of everything
  • Juice - critical to success
    • Nicotine content - 12-24mg depending on how many cigarettes you were smoking
    • PG / VG ratios - typical 80/20, 70/30, 50/50, etc
      • PG impacts throat hit (nicotine level does too)
      • VG impacts volume of vapor - smoother, but larger feel
    • Flavors! -
      • Likely you'll be looking for that "Marlboro/Winston/Newport" tobacco flavor
Most people starting out want to replicate the cigarette experience
      • Don't be surprised if you lose your 'taste' for tobacco flavors after a while
      • Don't rule out non-tobacco flavors! I did and missed 3 months of great tastes
      • Your taste preferences are likely to evolve as your taste buds heals over time
2 juice vendors (of 100's out there) to recommend: Mt. Baker Vapor and Killer Juice. Great product, prices & customer service.

Congrats and welcome to this exciting new chapter in your life!

Welcome! You've made some great choices, and have already received some excellent advice (backups, backups, backups :))

+1 on Cabinet's recommendation of MBV and Killer Juice. Check out Killer as every weekend, the have $0.99/15mL specials on different juices. I just picked some up a couple weeks ago, and they are pretty good. I'm going to try DIY, so I probably won't be buying much any more, but I couldn't pass up "Code Red", which happened to be on the sale menu the weekend I looked!

Good luck, and enjoy the :vapor:

Welcome to the forum. Quiting cancer sticks is tough but you are on the right track. Remember that addiction is a complex thing, its more than simply nicotine its also all of the other associated habits that you established over the 15 years. My advice would be to build on the positive step you have taken by making a plan to exercise and address areas of stress in your life. Ecigs/vaporizers can help by replacing your habit with something less harmfull, but to be effective in the long term we need to address those other parts of our lives that make us suceptible to falling back into bad habits.

I would say good luck, but its not luck, its all you. Well done.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement, this will be the umpteenth time I'm going to try quitting. I've been creeping around the forums for a few months now However this time feels good, the patches never worked and gave me a gnarly rash, the gum just didn't do it for me. After trying a co-workers Hana w/ 12mg nic it was the only thing that killed the cravings and satisfied the oral fixation. For me the act of smoking is so programmed, up at 530AM, work out, coffee and cig, shower, cig while walking to work, cig after lunch at 1230, cig at 430, cig on the walk home from work, cig after dinner with coffee...repeat. I just need to break up my routine so i'm occupied with something when its my usual time to smoke.

I ordered some Virgin Vapor Strawberry Lime Cooler and Hawaiian White Guava. I'm going to sign up for some monthly programs like Vapebox to get some more exposure to different juice makers. This brings me to my next question, along with the protank 3 I also ordered a Delta 3. Anyone have any recommendations for some disposable tanks I can load up a few with 1.5-2ml of juice in each?

I will definitely pick up a few more batteries, then some more mods, some more tanks, juices then some more and more and more...sweet another hobby.

Thanks again everyone.
