New and Naive

What's up everyone? My name is Adam I'm twenty years old and completely new to vaping. About a week ago I read and interview with actor Tom Hardy (who is my personal favorite) and found out that he capes. So I decided that it was time to throw out my cigarettes and move on to something healthier and as it turns out a lot tastier. So I don't know any of the terms or anything. I've got a cheap atomizer and recently bought a new stainless steal 1300 temp adjustable battery. But I feel like I'll have to lay down some real money soon for a nice setup.

so help me out guys. And I'm excited to learn a lot from all of you. By the way does anyone know what kind vaporizer Hardy uses?

You need only spend as much as needed to get the setup YOU want. There are people who have been vaping for years on stuff others would not even sneer at. In addition to vaping I look on this as a hobby and as we all know you can spend far more than you imagine on any hobby.

I have moved through a lot of stuff and I still have my original 600 mah batteries and attys. If I just wanted to vape I could have stopped acquiring stuff about 8 mods ago.

Hello Adam, I'm new to the forum too. You will find lots of awesome folks here who are willing to help you out and encourage you on your vaping journey. As for what Tom Hardy is using, it looks like an Evod style with a clearomizer...its what I started out with. If you have a store near you, go and visit with them and see what they have, ask questions, see if they will let you test some of their kit out. Good luck on your adventure :)

Welcome. :)

Lucky you bought a proper e-cig.

Lots of the celebrities use cig-a-likes. I don't know if they buy them or get given them but my guess is rich folk don't care how much they cost and how useless they are.

Leonardo likes to flaunt his e-cig in public (or at least did) but is rumoured to go straight outside for a real cigarette as often as possible.

Some of us don't want to do that, which is why we invest in decent hardware once we've learned our lesson.

Good luck on your vaping journey. :)

What you have now is just fine until you want to buy something else. The main thing is not smoking.

All the devices that hold batteries and or have a battery built into them, Non-Removable, (Known as Mod) do exactly the same thing, Supply electricity to the wire coil in the part that holds the e-liquid.

That adjustable battery you just got is not any better or worse than the variable voltage Mod I just got that cost me $159.

There are some variable voltage and variable wattage device on the market that are not as good as the one you just got.

So stop thinking you need better gear. Having GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) isn't a bad thing. I have it and I've always had it with every dam thing I do.

What you might want to look into is a better clearomizer, the device that holds the juice and has the atomizer head in it.

Some of the better ones on the market right now are the Aspire Nautilus, the Kanger Mini Protank and the Kanger Aerotank, either the mini or the Mega. Those will improve the flavor of the juice to some degree and give you more vapor, if that is what you are looking for.

In any event Glad to have you on the forum and Glad you have stopped smoking.

As said by Rip Tripper "Smoking is Dead, Vaping is the Future and the Future is NOW".

Best of luck to you.

Congratulations Adam on your move away form the burners. I wish vaping was around when I was in my twentys.

You have come to the right place for your inquiry's. A lot of great people here.

With that being said, my advice new to vapers wishing to step up would be to read, read and read some more along with visiting your local vapor shops to feel different units and get an idea as to which direction is best for you.

Best of luck in your quest and most of all.........Welcome Aboard! :thumb:

Welcome Adam! As others said, you don't have to spend "serious amounts of money" to get a good vape. Someone who was not a vaper coming into this site might conclude that either:

1. There are a lot of people with an undiagnosed case of OCD roaming around this site.
2. This is one of the largest OCD conventions in the world with lots of enablers.
2. The are some extremely passionate people who like to take their most recent hobby to an extreme.

Maye a little of all 3! It's very easy to get overwhelmed in the beginning. If you didn't read the "stickies" at the top of the New Member Forum, when you have a chance I recommend doing so. Many "beginner" questions about this site are covered there -- such as "How many posts do I have to have to "XYZ"?".

Below are some blog posts by ECF member Baditude that I highly recommend for someone new to vaping.

1. A Good Starter's Setup for a Beginning Vapor
2. Advancing Up the Vaping Ladder with Egos and Mods
3. Proper terminology - Is it a carto, a tank, or what? A Guide to Juice Attachments.
4. Something Safe for Cinnamon and Citrus Flavors

Enjoy!

For a battery: MVP2.

For tanks: miniprotank2v2.

With batteries, having a screen that shows you ohms, volts, watts is extremely usefull for finding your vape legs.

With tanks, gotta have a glass tank for the long haul for hygiene reasons; and once you get used to vaping, rewicking with cotton pays dividends.

Hey Adam and welcome to ECF. As been stated many times before me, find what works for you and keeps you off the analogs. No one can tell you what works for you but can give suggestions as to what's worked for them. Always ask your question no matter what it is as I don't think many people here will sneer at ya for a "stupid question" as there are none, just stupid answers ;) Enjoy your stay and congrats on getting healthier.

Welcome Adam, I'm nearly 2 months in on Vaping and love it, I have also spent some money too, my advice is to find a Vap shop and experiment with the
different set up's and juices & ask lots of questions! i You will find something good to start off and can build from there; I went through 3 or 4 different cheaper devices before I found something I like! Happy Vaping :vapor:

This is probably the best pic I could find of his setup. Don't know if you were looking at the same one but I'm not informed enough to deduce what kind it is.

EDIT: Nevermind. I guess I'm not allowed to post links yet.
