I heard about e-cigs from a friend that saw them at the mall.

I kinda forgot about it and didn't look into it too much. I started thinking about it again today, and then saw an online ad for the "Blu" e-cig. I went to their website and they look amazing, if it lives up to their claims.

I smoked Marlboro Lights, and have moved to Pall Mall Lights due to the state and fed taxes going up and increasing my packs by about $2.50. I don't know what a "501" is or anything else about e-cigs. I have been trying to read on here about these Blu e-cigs and it doesn't sound like people like them.

Will I be dissapointed if I order a kit from them? Here are my main reasons for wanting e-cigs.....tell me where I am wrong or a little off base here.

1. The smell. I hate the smell of cigs and I don't even smoke during work because I don't want to stink.
2. Health reasons. I am sure e-cigs aren't the best in the world for your health, but I assume they are better than real ones.
3. Price. It says 75% cheaper on the Blu website, is that true?

I have looked at a few other models, but it seems that Blu has the best cost, look, and flavors. Help a noob out.

I've only had my e-cig for less than two weeks. It's a 510 (Joye510 to be exact). The impression I get around here is the DSE901 and the 510 models are the two most popular e-cigs as far as positive reviews go (again, that's MY impression).

I don't know anything about the blu or how much it costs, etc. However, I paid a total or $70 (shipping incl.) for my first 510 kit. That came with enough components to make 2 e-cigs, plus a bottle of e-juice to get me started (10 ml size). Of course now I've started adding more juices and backup supplies and other e-cig stuff... but I haven't had to use any of the backup supplies yet, as my 510 is still performing like new.

Again, I've only been doing this for less than 2 weeks.

I'm not saying you MUST start with the 510, I'm just sharing my experience thus far. There are several members who have been here much much much longer than I, and I found their experiences and reviews to be extremely useful in my own decisions.

You've looked at both of these already? If not, it's a good start:

All parts of an e-cig are consumables, and will need to be replaced over time. Most manufacturers greatly exaggerate how long a cartridge will *really* last. But, you can refill most of them (if not all) yourself with e-liquid. Figure on an atomizer or two per month, and if refilling carts, ~2ml of fluid per day of liquid.

I have to agree with Fresca -- the two models I personally like the most are the ones she mentioned: 901 and 510/manual. There are many people that like these, so you may want to start looking at those. Wegster also added links with some incredibly good information.

I have to say that when I started I first watched video reviews on this forum and on youtube that were done by vapers, not by companies trying to sell me something. If you watch those video reviews, please make a note about the date they were posted. Some of the older reviews are outdated now. And I read posts here. But ultimately I just made the jump and got my first e-cig and after that everything started to make much more sense.

Buy from a reputable online supplier. If you decide to get the 510 kit, make sure it is one with manual batteries. The kit will probably cost around $50. 901 kit will be probably little cheaper.

I recommend that with your first order you also get a small bottle of e-liquid. That will make a BIG DIFFERENCE. Don't go with some fruity flavor for your first liquid. Try something that is made to taste like tobacco. IT WILL NOT taste like it anyway, but at least you will not be vaping apples. (Of course, later your taste may change and you may enjoy apple eliquid.)

Most online merchants that sell e-cigs also sell eliquid.

In your first order, also get one or two extra atomizers for your e-cig model. Again, the online shop will most likely carry those as "spare parts".

Optional: If your budget allows that, get something called USB passthrough for your e-cig. That will allow you to connect your e-cig to the computer's USB port and you will not need to rely on the batteries that come with the kit. Most kits have instructions that will tell you to charge your batteries before you use them for the first time for 8 or 12 hours. With the USB passthrough there is nothing to charge -- you can start vaping immediately.

    Good luck.
