I'm still a newbie so I have to post here. And that's fine. Walmart now sells the 21st Century e-cig. I bought one for around $20.00 and it came with two atomizers/filters and a recharger. I love it. I went back and bought another pack of filters for around $7.00.

I got scammed at the mall for buying my first e-cig. Never again!!!

I also have the Janty which I really like because I can add liquid. But I notice the filters don't last very long. They tend to break down after a couple of days. Is there a substitute padding I can put in the filter, like maybe a piece of a real cigarette filter? Just wondering. The customer service at Janty is great. One of my batteries quit working and I got a new one in about 2 days.

If I am not using the correct terminology for e-cigs, cigarettes, filters, atomizers please enlighten me.:2cool:

What you are calling filters on that 21st Century thing is probably a cartomizer or carto. Probably a KR808D2. In the 510 you have a cartridge or cart coupled with an atomizer. You can replace the stuffing in the cartridges with poly-fil. Wal-mart probably has that in the sewing dept. Some people swear by blue foam for aquariums or the plastic in Lipton pyramid tea bags. I seem to be sensitive to the taste of plastic. So, I don't use those.

Welcome!

The material inside a cartridge (filler) is just polyester batting. You can find it at most craft stores (Walmart has it in their craft department). It is for stuffed toys, pillows and the same batting that comes in rolled sheets for quilts. Just don't buy the kind with fire ......ant chemicals on it. I find the sheet batting (for quilting) a bit more economical and easier to work with. Also in craft stores and sometimes you can get a very small sheet cut from a large roll (like they do fabric) or you can find a small package or remnant in the bargain bins (ask a store clerk).

If you don't want a big bag of it, you can remove and wash out the poly fiber filler from your current cartridges until you find a small amount of it for replacement. Roll it in a paper towel to dry and fluff up by separating the fibers a bit with a toothpick or piece of bent paper clip and insert it back in with a pair of tweezers.

You can also use some of the same type of fibers made for fish tank filters (very safe). Fuval, AquaClear (my favorite!) and a few others are found in small packages for just a few dollars. Here is a link to more information:

To use it, cut it slightly wider than the cart and seat it with tweezers to the bottom of your cart and cut off flush to the top. If it doesn't wick, trim a tiny bit off one side. You can wash it out and reuse it for many, many months and it doesn't slump or compress!

and some terminology since I am not sure what type of model you have

2-piece ecig = battery+ cartomizer aka carto
3-piece ecig = battery + atomizer + cartridge aka cart

You can refill and restuff carts carts and use them a long long time
However cartos (preferred by many) cannot be restuffed and have limited lifespans (maybe 4-7 days if you keep one damp with eliquid)

You probably have automatic batteries and those are vulnerable to getting killed or damaged by juice drips on the end of the battery so be careful with refilling.

I've cleaned my cartos twice and refilled them 4 times so far. Will do a 5th clean and 6th refill this weekend. Let's see how long I can make them last.
