Hello, I am new to the forums, I have been vaping for a week now. I am on my second atomizer and when I add a full cart to it, it will vape for about 4-5 puffs, after that, it stops vaping and tastes burnt. I did not have this happen on my first atomizer, that one worked great from the start. I was able to taste the flavors, now with this one, even when it vapes, I do not even get a slight hint of flavor. It is always that burnt taste. I can live with the burnt taste, because I am using the 510 to quit smoking cigarettes, and I still get my nicotine as long as it vapes, but when it does not vape at all, after just 5 puffs, I am kind of thrown off by that. Is this normal with a new atomizer?
Are you using pre-filled carts on your 510? Are you refilling your carts?
You mention you are on your second atomizer, is your first atty still working?
Your atty may be running too dry.
Attys do not like to be dry, they need to be moist.
They also don't work well when they are flooded, although if you are getting a burnt taste, it makes me think "dry".
I'm pretty new to vaping as well and using a 510. I had the same experience with the pre-filled carts. They just aren't filled with a lot of liquid and have a very short life-span. I was burning through the pre-filled cart in 4-5 draws and wondering if there was something wrong because I kept getting a "dry burnt" taste.
I solved the burnt taste and reduced vapor production by gently blowing out the atty from the threaded end. Then I put a drop of e-liquid onto the mesh coil inside the atty. I fill my cart with e-juice (making sure to not over-fill it) and all works well. I'm also stuffing my own carts with poly-fill and I had to figure out how much was "just right" for me (too much, no air flow = hard draw and burnt dry taste - too little = flooded atty - hard draw, gurgling, reduced vapor)
I'm using it to quit smoking as well, and it gets frustrating when it doesn't seem to work right.
Finding the balance between running the atty too dry and flooding it took a little trial and error. I also had a problem with "hard draw" and I couldn't figure it out. I did tons of reading and asked questions and figured out that I needed to clear the atty by gently blowing it out and not over filling my carts.
I also realized that some of the very thick e-liquids did give me a "harder draw" and when I switched to a thinner e-liquid (or thinned the thick ones out myself) the problem was solved.
I think you'll be able to figure out what the problem is
Good luck! Keep asking questions and reading all the information here. I love that there is always someone around to answer questions and help!
