New atty arrives, wet and tobacco smell

I have not purchased many atty's in the past. But I was not expecting what I received today. A atty came, in a cellophane wrapper that was split down one side. I could see droplets of liquid inside the wrap and on the atty. It had a strong smell of tobacco. The inside did not look wet.
I called the company and they said sometimes atty's come with primer in them. Sometimes the primer smells like e-juice. They said sometimes they will test random atty's for quality.
They offered a refund or credit.
Anyone ever have this experience?
What would you do?

yes, that happens sometimes they are covered with primer

I would clean it and use it.

Attys do come with primer and it vapes nasty. I've never noticed a smell but never got close enough to check either. I always blow out new attys then do an alcohol soak and either let it dry overnight or do a dry burn to evaporate the alcohol if I'm in a hurry.

primer is unflavored juice... the nasty smell/taste is machining residues and such... blow it out, fill it up and vape it dry without inhaling. Fill up again and you are GTG.

I HATE primers but part of me loves it for what it represents... A brand new atty... mmmm! Heeee.

ahaha i almost threw my e-cig away the first time puffing on it, but the bad taste went away pretty quickly. Now I know why!!

I have had a few attys show up smelling of tobacco flavor, which I did not like as I mostly vape fruit flavors. This is not uncommon, most primers though, are flavorless until you start to vape them, then YUCK!! Clean it out and prime it with your favorite juice.

With all of the advice (thank-you!) I did rinse it and next day tried it. All is well, took awhile, but it is fine now! I just thought maybe someone had used it and returned it! Yuck!
