thanks for all the suggestions and help. I think I may start with the Riva 510 - Special Edition from liberty-flights. price seems decent, comes with 10 carts, 2 batteries, 2 atomizers, usb and regular chargers, and atomizer cone (not sure what that is). seems to have longer battery life too. I was thinking of getting 30ml of churchill 14mg tobacco liquid as well. How does this sound as a startup kit for a newbie? is there anything else i should consider getting as well? or am i totally headed in the wrong direction? thanks again.

You can't go much wrong with a riva 510 as a starter kit.

All I would say is I'd be careful buying 30mls of juice before you know you like it, if you try it and it's not to your liking or worse still you hate it / are allergic to a substance in it, you'll have not only wasted money but could have nothing to vape and be forced back to the deathly embrace of real cigs again!

I'd get 5-10 small smaller bottles, 5mls of lots of tobacco juices you like the sound of and try em out. You find one you fall in love with then sure, order as much as you can carry!

This is so true! I spent a long time sampling juices at the store before I bought any. And even then I only got 10ml bottles. A good thing too. One that I thought I loved and was going to get a 30ml of has been pushed aside. It was great when I tasted it - but after a while it lost its charm. Sure glad the guy in the store told me to get small bottles and live with a juice for a while before buying too much of it.

I'd suggest getting some cartomizers. Those might be easier for you to use than the atomizers/cartridges. The cartos are one piece instead of two, and you can refill them.

Also, getting a variety of sample size liquids is a good idea. You might not like tobacco flavors (many don't, even us hard-core smokers) but find that you just love caramel or grape or cheesecake. Also, your tastes will change as your taste buds recover and your sense of smell comes back. You may love choconuttynut today, and in a few days find it just meh but are totally in love with irish creme mocha frappe.

great place to start! save yourself a ton of money, if you see a juice you think you would like to try, youtube it first and see if you can find reviews for it. if your a tobacco type you want to definitely try Backwoods Brew but you have to let their juice steep to reach full potential..steeping is just letting it sit for 2 weeks to a month, brings out the flavor. and for anything else i have to tell ya, KickBassVapor E-Liquid is top notch, and my favorite vendor....but, there store is closed until monday or tuesday, due to all the orders coming in. they are that good. and it never hurts to ask on here first about a juice before you order....i have a bag of unused liquids that i wish i would have asked before i ordered! good luck!

great response from BardicDruid - read and learn!

if you choose to study up, you will know what system is best for you.

if you jump right into it (and that's OK too), you will spend money you don't need to spend, make some mistakes, learn from those mistakes but will undoubtedly have a lot of fun in the process. best of all you will will have begun the process of smoking cessation.

but soon enough you will know, from the MANY choices out there, what will work best for you and will be educating your friends and family on the process!!

This is so completely true. There is simply no way to predict what you will like. As a pipe smoker, some of my friends have referred to me as a 'tobacco snob'. I preferred to pronounce that 'connoisseur', but oh well. I wouldn't get near any of those candy-bar concoctions. And PG? Not on your life! So look at me now.... Gleefully vaping the afternoon away on a 70% PG mixture of TripleChocolate with Caramel. LOL If I told the pipe guys about this I would have to have paramedics standing by for safety. But it's sooo good!

(OK, granted, I still wouldn't put it in a $600 briar pipe, but.... It goes great in an eGo!) :D
