New ECF Member/Introduction/Forum Questions

Hello,

I've been a long time lurker, but I've finally decided to sign up. I guess I just want to become more involved in the community. I initially started vaping about two years ago with the original MVP and a Protank, but returned to analogs after a few months. Now, however, I've been vaping for about four months and am absolutely loving it. I started with a Provari and have worked up to a couple DNA 40 mods (VaporFlask and VaporShark rDNA). vaping has changed my life, and even though I've only been at this a short while, I feel like I'm vaping for vaping's sake. Anyways, I just wanted to introduce myself a little bit. Currently, I'm going to school in Boston and have visited some of the vape shops there. Most of them are pretty great, but sometimes I get discouraged with some of the pretentiousness. Obviously every community has a little bit of that, so I try and take it in stride.

If anyone can help me out, I do have a few questions:

- How do I go about posting and stuff?
- What's the best way to get involved on the forum?

Thanks guys, you've helped me a lot even though I've just been a lurker haha

First of all welcome to ECF!

To post in other parts of ECF you need to get 5 posts here in the New Members area. Just reply to all answers to your questions and that will get you over that hump. After that just find what interests you: favorite juice, equipment manufacturer, etc. For example ProVari has a very active forum in the Forum Suppliers area. If you are into rebuilding coils head over the to RDA forums. The sky is the limit after you get those first five posts in!

Cheers,
Goph

Welcome! :)

As gopher_byrd mentioned your first 5 posts are restricted to the New Members area. It's just 5 posts - it doesn't have to be 5 threads. You can chat here, reply to other New Member threads etc. It's part of the SPAM filtering needed, but this is also one of the biggest areas on ECF where any and all questions get answered. After 5 posts - and waiting on your next account status update (25 minutes past the hour, every hour) you can branch out into the other sub forums on ECF. More about the post count issues here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-members-how-many-posts-do-i-need-titles.html

You won't get notification. But you can track if there is a new post in your thread or any thread you have posted in.

Do you see near the top, under the ECF logo? There is a line of items. The first one says 'What's New'. If you click on that, a drop down menu appears. The first item is 'My Posts'. If you click on that it shows all the threads you have posted in. The ones that have new posts will show up like they are in bold.

Welcome to the Forum :)

Maybe you should, but you won't. Look under "What's New" and you will see options of "My Posts" and "New Posts" (or something like that). Pick "My Posts" and you will find a chronological listing of your posts. About all you can do is go to the last post you made and read down. To go to your last post in a thread, look for a little right pointing arrow, and click that arrow.

Now, if someone "Liked" a post of yours, you will get a notification at the top right of the screen. Here, I'll show you.

Thanks for the quick reply! Should I receive a notification when someone responds to a thread I created?

It's not a feature supported directly on ECF - the software is old (to be changed in the near future) and the site is so large the option would really bog things down. What you can do though:

Subscribe to any threads you post in. Use the Thread Tools > Subscribe to this Thread drop box option at the top of the thread, on the right. You can elect to receive e-mail notices when any new activity is posted to a Subscribed thread.

A faster way to just see what's what is to use the What's New? > My Posts drop box on the upper left of any page. That will show all threads you have started or replied in. Highlighted threads will have new activity.
