So, I'm still relatively new to the vaping thing, and not ready to drop $200 on a fancy mod. So, I have a question about how to maximize the system I am already using. I've done a lot of reading on this forum, but I'm still relatively confused about what works best with what, so I just thought I'd ask.

I have an Ego (not an Ego-DC or an Ego-T), just a plain Ego with a 650 mAh (don't really know what this means) battery. I originally vaped with the Mega Atomizer that came with it using the blank carts with a 80/20 PG/VG Black Tea juice and had good flavor representation in the vape.

I got tired of refilling so often, so I got a Smok Tech Dual Coil XL 510 Cartomizer (1.5 ohm), and that seemed to vape with a nice flavor as well, though not quite as sweet. I also tried the Clearomizers(2.3-2.5 ohm) that have to be loaded with a syringe, and these made my liquid taste like crap, all burned and plastic and this never got better. I finally threw them out.

Now, I am trying the Ego-T Tank Atomizer (~3.0 ohm), and though I am getting a good amount of vapor, I am not getting the sweetness in the vape that I had with the original set-up. I know this atomizer was designed for the Ego-T, but it does seem to work with my system. I'm just thinking that maybe the battery I have isn't quite right for the tank atomizer. Also, sometimes with a sustained amount of vaping, it will get hot and taste a bit burned even though the battery isn't low and I have plenty of juice in the tank.

So, I have 2 questions:

1) Is there a voltage compatibility issue with the 650 mAh battery/3.0 ohm tank atomizer that I'm not educated enough to be aware of that could be affecting the flavor and knocking out the sweetness? How I can get the best volume and flavor out of this scenario? I'd really like to stick with the tank system, as it is the easiest thing I've found. If this issue can be fixed, I'd love to know how.

2) I have also just bought some 90/10 VG/PG juice from Alien Visions, but I've read that high VG juice burns up your atomizers. What's the best way to vape this new juice without burning up my atomizers, and can it be used with the tank system?

I know this is probably a redundant question, but in all of my reading here, I just haven't figured out the answer to my specific problem. I thought I'd just ask the pros, and would have posted in the 'Ask the Pros' section, but I haven't made my initial 5 posts yet, so I have to post it here. Thanks in advance for your help!!

I've quit analogs completely, and enjoy vaping, but I know I'm not maximizing the flavors and vapor volume like I could be!!

Tanks have a tendency to mute flavor somewhat. You get a lighter, cooler vape. It wasn't a huge issue for me because I vape menthol and like a cool vape. Higher VG also tends to mute flavor somewhat.

You could always try the juce in your tank but the tank atty might get clogged and need to be cleaned more often. Worth a shot. You can always add a small amount of distilled water.

Hi StephenB! I have the eGo tank system also and have pretty much discarded the tank and atty. I thought the draw was too hard, and i definitely did not get the "hit" i wanted from it. For question 1, i could be wrong but i dont think there is any compatibility issue with that set up. A lower ohm atomizer would give you a hotter, better hit tho. I really like the low resistance things. Right now i use both a LR 306 atomizer (which gives you such a nice hot hit but it is strictly for dripping, which it doesnt sound like you are crazy about that idea) and I got some Resurrectors in recently, which are cartomizers that hold quite a bit of fluid and they are LR. Really like those too, but I have found that the 306 to me is the only thing that gives me really really good full flavor.
Question 2. I also use AVE juice (100% VG) and it is rather thick. I have not tried it with the tank but would suspect that it might clog it up some. You can add a few drops of distilled water to thin it out a little, but not too much or it could then be too thin and leak. I add distilled water to my AVE juice for the cartomizer.

Good luck in your ventures!

Ego is not 3.7v, it's 3.4v. So 3 ohms give a barely warm vape.

Many have complained of lack of flavor with Ego tanks compared to any other way to vape the same juice. And sometimes those tank attys need their wicks adjusted (somewhere between burning taste from lack or flow and leaking due to too much flow).

High VG juices do not work well in tanks nor most cartomizers (they are too thick). Tanks generally like 30% Vg or less though some thinner 50/50's may work. For a normal non-tank atomizers - any PG/VG works but the juice has flow at least as fast as it is being vaporized. If you don't keep the atomizer coil wet then the atty gets too hot and is stressed. If a juice is too thick you can thin it with a bit of distilled water.

Hey Stephen,

I have the same eGo and vape 100% VG juice from AVE (mostly Gorilla Juice) with a cartomizer, no problems. Their VG juices are NOT all the same, they vary considerably in thickness depending on the flavor even at 100%. Boba's is much thicker than Gorilla Juice, for example. I use a Kanger horizontal coil cartomizer (808D-1 version from Smokeless image at ~2.7 ohms, but is also available in a 510 version at 2.0 ohms). The flavor is great for me, but I'll admit I started with cartomizers and have only dripped a few times. I notice the flavor starting to drop off after about 3ml, and usually go to about 5ml before cleaning. I guess its mostly a question of balancing convenience versus trying to get a perfect flavor all of the time.

The wookies over at AVE definitely seem to be working some kind of magic with the VG juice that other vendors can't duplicate.

EDIT: I revised this post to reflect that I've been using the 808D-1 cartos from SI with an adapter for the eGo because I have heard that some people have had bad experiences with the 510 Kanger HCC, and I have not tried them personally yet. One friend of mine has been using them without problems, and I plan to order some when I run low on my current stock. Just want to see if the lower resistance will work better with some of my favorite juices.
