New equipment, please help!

Hello again. Just received my variable voltage ego battery in the mail, along with some v5 ceramic clearomizers (xl). For the life of me, I have not been able to get my clearomizers to wick properly. I'll get a few good draws, but for the most part the vapor is thin, there is little to no throat hit, and I taste a sour, burnt flavor. I made sure to prime the wick by dropping a few drops directly onto it once removing the rubber cap, even flooding it with juice and then blowing it out. I've also been careful to fully fill them properly with a syringe. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

On a side note, while I really like my vv ego batt, it does not charge on my ego charger! I think this may be because its outer threads are too deep and prevent the contacts from touching. Any solutions for this?

Last note! On a whim, I ordered a delrin 510 drip tip with my last juice order, and I now know what everyone is talking about. Massive vapor, pure flavor and excellent throat hit. Currently my best vape despite my attempt at more complicated equipment.

Thanks again for all the help! You guys rock!

What is the PG/VG of your juice? Clearomizers like 30% or less VG, maybe some thin 50/50's will work.

And are these the totally clear clearomizers? Or the deluxe ones that are a bit cloudy? I know the old clear ones can have a stuck wick, caught under the inner seal. You need to be a patient tinkerer to fix these things. I just skipped them and waited for the CE3 (aka Deluxe Fluxomizers at Gotvapes)

Someone else will have to help you with the R5's. These are not beginner cartos. They are for people willing to fix them.

Very true. I like them and do get a good vape from them, but they do require some fiddling to perform well.

The first thing I do when I receive a new batch of clearos is pull out the silicone gaskets that sit on top of the ceramic cup and modify them. See the little cut-outs on either side that sit above the wick? I take my Xacto knife and carefully trim them larger, about half a mm all the way around (so they're wider as well as deeper). Much more than this and you can have leaking issues, I've seen some people make gigantic v-shaped cuts and them complain about leaking. I rarely have leaks with mine
Once this is done just put the gasket back in. It helps to lube it up a little with some juice (or plain PG or VG). Note that you still may have wicking issues, this just means you pushed the gasket down too tightly. Just gently pull up on the gasket on either side, right where the wick is, to relieve pressure. Doesn't need to be moved visibly, just enough to take pressure off the wick. Again, pulling this up too much can cause leaking, so it involves some trial and error. You can even try this step before cutting the slots bigger, sometimes it works

I hope that helps you, glarsky!

Thanks for the help so far. I'm using PG juice, and rather thin ones at that (DK-TAB or RY4, from myfreedomsmokes) The clearomizers I have are the slightly cloudy ones, not totally clear. Thanks for the correction on the 3 stage battery. I can't remember the site I got it from off the top of my head, but it did say it was compatible with all e-go chargers. I'm definitely willing to do some tinkering on those clearos, if anyone has any other tips. That aspect of vaping is definitely one that appeals to me.

Thanks again.

I have a vv ego. Are these the clearos that came with the kit? I've actually been pretty happy with them. Sometimes I turn it on it's side to move the juice around and it seems to help.

Mine work on my old Joye ego charger. What type of charger do you have.

swedishfish, I'm not sure which type it is, if there are multiple varieties. Mine came with the joye e-go tank kit I ordered from cignot (type b.) It occurred to me that the chargers may be different between ego and ego t kits, perhaps because the threadings on the batteries may be different. Although the back of the charger simply reads "ego charger."
