Sup people? how are you? oh, im alrigh i guess :D.

Anyways. I began vaping like 3 weeks ago. Bought a svd and an aspire tank. Loved it. So much actually that i compiled a decent order. this was a day before my college grad. So i go to grad and do what every other student does at grad, or "after" grad. Drink. I ended up losing my svd, :(, bought another pack of smokes, :(, and genuinely gave up on life until today. The shipment finally made it... YAY.... and im the new proud owner of a nemesis clone, nimbus clone, atomic clone and a couple efest 3100mah 18650's. as well as some 30g kanthal and cotton.

Now, let me tell you. Been working my ... trying to make a coil and no matter what i do i cant wrap a coil worth ..... I check my ohms trough a digital multimeter.

I need help. Even if just suggestions for coils. Its weird, i get ohms reading that go against everything i read over the last week. Seems like i cant get a coil below like 3.3 ohms and that includes 5 wraps of 30g on 1/8 drill bit. and i though i was going to blow my head of with this mech. Im actually still scared because .... isnt linining up like it should. Getting high ohms and stuff and trough i managed to make a tiny coil, probably 7 wraps on a toothpick and threw that in the atomic and it doesnt seem bad at all. Altrough that could be just the happiness im getting from finally being able to vape again.

Weird, how after i stopped smoking when i had my svd and then after i lost it and i bought some more smokes, you can really feel the negative effects smoking has after i tried vaping. seems almost toxic.... lol. i kno my english sucks, sorry.

As a newbie I'm still using the easy batterys and tanks. I am so not looking forward to having those issues sounds stressful would make me wanna smoke. But hang in fella good folks here to help ya get back to vaping.

Have to say so right on the ciggs being toxic and how it effects you especially when your trying to quit. I have been battling the smokes too. Keep strong.

In my Atomic I built a microcoil with 11 wraps of 28 gauge kanthal on a 5/64 drill bit and that came out to around 1.6 Ohm which kept me happy for some time. A couple of days ago I wrapped another coil the same way and stuck it in my Atomic for around an 0.8 Ohm total resistance (2x 1.6 Ohm coils in parallel).

30 gauge wire has a higher resistance than 28 gauge for the same length. If that is all you have to work with try wrapping your coil on a 1/16 drill bit. I rebuilt a Smok ARO head with 11 wraps of 30 gauge on a 1/16 drill bit and it came out to around 2.3 Ohm.

On a 1/8 drill bit that resistance ads up quick as it takes quite a bit of wire for each wrap so I would definitely suggest something smaller.

I am sure you can find a screwdriver or Allen wrench with the right diameter but it would require some calipers to measure them. Assuming your toothpick has a smaller diameter than the 1/8 dril bit you could try a dual coil build using that. The dual coil build will effectively half your overall resistance. I am sure you know already, but it is a good idea to check your resistance once the coils are installed in the atty.

On a side note, did you check the resistance reading of your multimeter leads with the 2 tips/probes touching each other? Most multimeters will show something (mine reads 0.6 Ohm). That needs to be subtracted from the reading you get when measuring the coil.

That's because you lost your SVD so now you're using a cheap multimeter and you need to check the zero offset.

zero offset - check what the meter reads when you connect it to zero ohms.

Frack. The build worked really nice, but as soon as i fired it up the middle of my mod got SUPER hot. So i rechecked the ohms on the atty and its shoving 1.6, internal resistance is still 0.6 unless the resistance it shows for the atty is only for one coil and i still have to divide that. Someone chip in. Im not doing anything untill this gets cleared up. Fyi the battery is not hot. Maybe warm if a little and the rest of the mod or atty is fine as well. I did notice that one of the coils was firing before the other one. I played with it a little but never really got it to sync right up.

No short with the top cap, i did a test with it on. And both the coils light up from inside out, just one is slower.

The reading will be for the whole setup, you do not need to divide anything. Make sure you have the screws tightened down enough on all 3 posts and that the coils themselves are not touching the posts or any other metal part of the atomizer. How long did you fire the coils for it to get that hot?

Some heating of the atomizer will happen. When I take a few long drags in succession my whole atty heats up quite a bit.
