Hi All,

Well, I'm a total newb, so much that as I type this, I'm smoking an analog still

I've been smoking for the better part of 20+ years, 1-2 pad. My husband doesn't smoke, I hate smelling like smoke, I hate standing outside in the cold to smoke, I hate not being able to smoke in his truck on trips, I hate coughing, and most of all, I hate that I DO NOT want to quit!

I've been seeing the e-cig commercials on TV, I'm sure you know the ones I mean, where they say "it's not smoke, it's water vapor"...no idea what brand it is, anyway, they got me interested in e-cigs, but I never followed up on checking them out. Then I saw a thread about e-cigs on another forum I post on, and the ARES owner popped in talking about their business, and so I really started checking them out.

Bought a "Clayton for Her" at the local tobacco shop, and I sorta tasted something when I took a drag, but no smoke/vapor at all. Decided I would order from ARES in a few weeks, and set the Clayton to the side. Started trying to figure out the e-cigs ARES has, found this forum and read a couple of posts.

Best friend mentioned she was interested in an e-cig one day, I said heck, I bought one, but it doesn't work, and I'm kinda peeved I wasted $30 on it. Said she could borrow it and try it, since it came with several mouthpieces (cartos? haven't learned all the lingo yet, sorry). Before I took it to her, I thought, oh hey, you should try a different mouthpiece....and lo and behold, there was vapor! Tried a few drags...it was OK, then took it to her. She LOVES it.

Took a trip to Atlanta last weekend, stopped at a truck stop and bought a Mistic kit, with 1.8% nic. Bought a refill pack with 1.2% nic. Well, I do not like the flavor of the 1.8% at all, but I really like the 1.2%, so I've been using it for a few days in the car, or right before bed, but mostly still using analog.

(I have a carton of analogs I bought last week, and I will not throw away cigs, for whatever reason. I don't plan to buy anymore and plan to switch to e-cig full time after I'm done with these analogs)

Anyway, the Mistic stuff is expensive?, and I can't find it in my area. I've read just enough to know I won't be happy with it long term. While my best friend is using the Clayton as a means to an end, I likely will use an e-cig forever, because my biggest problem is the hands and mouth, I think, not really the nic addiction.

So, I've ordered the ARES V6 PCC Starter Kit (Silver 510 PCC) from ARES along with several different flavors of e-liquids, in 11, 6, and 0mg nic, mostly 100% VG (which maybe was a mistake???). I also ordered cartridge blacks, cartomizers, and spare atomizers. Hopefully that's everything I need to get started? (I know what comes in the kit is everything I NEED, but if I want to try the different flavors, I'm a bit lost how to do that )

So...just saying Hi, introducing myself, and I'll probably have tons of questions when my order arrives this week!

Are you in the Dothan area? I was just down there...have cousins there.

Anyway, it should be fairly simple for you to try your flavors. Hold your blank cartridge upside-down and drip a few drops of the liquid (should come in little dropper bottles) into the cartridge filler (cottonlike poly batting). Wait for it to absorb and repeat. When the liquid begins to pool at the top the filler will be well-saturated. At this point, fit the cartridge over the atomizer, just as you would with a pre-filled cartridge. Then vape away!

I hope you have a great experience with your new PV. Good luck getting off the smokes! It worked for me.

Welcome to ECF.

Thanks Baron! I am about 20 miles from Dothan :) I'm sure filling them will make more sense once I can see them, I'm really hopeful they will arrive today (probably not, but possibly, since ARES seems to be in GA?) or Monday...I have 2.5 packs of analogs left, so between them and the Mistic, I should make it until my order comes and I get the battery charged!

What is "boge" I see it mentioned in lots of posts.

100% VG is very thick and does not work well in slim ecig cartomizers. it may work OK in carts if it flows well enough, else try adding a few drops of distilled water tot he juice to loosen it up. In Boge 510 cartomizers I use PG with 20% or less VG. I can get 7-10 days use or more out of a Boge 510 cartomizer. Only put juices you know you like in cartos. You can't change the stuffing. They are disposable. Some clean and dry them for more use with variable results.

PG - thin, lets through the most flavor, most nicotine TH, most nicotine irritation
VG - thick, dulls everything VG lets through, makes thicker vapor
I use up to 50% VG on atomizers, 20% or less in cartos, and I avoid juices that sem to drop a lot of flavoring sediment (clogs attys and cartos)

510 is a fine starter though I recommend manuals (I use the manuals as one of my 2 slim ecigs) - they are sealed on the threaded end so safe from being damaged or killed by juice leaks - that also makes them safe for using a drip tip on the atomizer for trying juices. They also make it easier to get a good hit and won't turn on accidentally from wind or vibration.

Yup. Boge Tech is a manufacturer's brand name. There are many different types of cartomizers (cartridge + atomizer in one). The Boge cartomizers are the one's I've found to work the best at a good price.

Good luck quitting! Don't beat yourself up if you end up buying more smokes. I smoked and vaped for awhile before I finally quit smoking. Eventually, it worked though. Every time you vape rather than smoke, you are doing yourself a favor!

Gah, the lowest VG I ordered is 30%. I assume the e-cig I ordered will fit all the 510 stuff? What is a manual? (I think I know what they are, you have to push a button to activate the atomizer? Can you recommend a decent one for a newbie?) So far, dripping totally confuses me, maybe it will make more sense once I have the e-cig in hand? (The only ones I've seen in person have screw on cartomizers and a battery) Dripping does sound appealing for trying different flavors without using up a whole cartridge or cartomizer, though, is there a manual e-cig that is compatible with dripping?

I think I prefer less TH, that's why I went with the heavy VG juices, but if they're going to give me problems, I'll get some with more PG. (I didn't notice much TH with the Clayton, but I DO with the Mistic)

welcome

i got my first disposable ecig from a gas station to try it out for at work without the thought of quitting at all. it was ok, but it interested me enough to buy a better kit. came with 2 batteries. my girlfriend and i haven't smoked in about 3 weeks now. don't worry, we finished up our last smokes too the first days on the disposable ecig, even bought a pack to share one day after we decided we didn't want to buy any more.

the experience was much better on some quality equipment and made it much more enjoyable and satisfying. i think that once you get your new items you will be more satisfied with vaping. i just really stopped craving analogs after my elite 808 arrived in the mail.

i'm confident you'll figure it all out. you have already taken a great step coming here and asking questions. everyone here will give you the advice you need and you'll be steaming it up like a pro in no time. its a very helpful and knowledgeable community here as i have found over the past 3 weeks or so.
