I just started this vaping thing this week. I got my gear in Monday and I have been off to the races. Several years ago I tried the cigalike thing and I thought it was horrible so I never thought twice about it. Smoking has been making me miserable lately and I just stopped enjoying it but of course I had to smoke. I have had 1 cigarette since I got my batteries all charged up and liquid loaded up. There is a little bit of a learning curve to overcome it seems getting use to the clearomizers and all. I was either flooding or burning so I replaced my wicks in my Protank and Evod with cotton and it has been AWESOME ever since. I have an MVP v2 and an generic 650 ego battery and think I made a wise choice so far for a beginner. Of course now I am wanting a mechanical and RDA so I can blow the giant clouds, lol.

The juices have been a surprise. I thought I would want tobacco juice but the ones I ordered just aren't that good to me. I have been surprised that I like the fruit flavors so much. Cherry and raspberry are great. I can't get enough. I ahve a few others that I guess need to steep as they are pretty off putting right now.

My only problem so far is not being able to sleep. I am wide awake all night until I fall out. I don't know if that is from not having the cigs or the nic from the vaping. I guess it could be both. Any suggestions, I am using 12 and 18 on the nic doses. Not many cig urges during the day until I lay in bed and lust for a cigarette.

Welcome to ECF and congratulations on getting off to such a great start with vaping.

It's not at all unusual for people to think that they want a tobacco flavor vape and end up preferring something else. What is important is that you found a couple of flavors that you enjoy.

Nicotine can cause insomnia for some people. You might want to pick up some 6 mg. juice in the flavors you like and vape that strength for a few hours before bedtime. If that isn't enough nicotine you can mix it half and half with your 12. mg juice to get some 9 mg.

You don't need a mech to blow big clouds. Consider getting one of the 30 watt VW devices that are now coming on the market for sensible prices to use to learn how to build RDAs that will blow nice clouds. That will provide a pretty safe and flexible way to learn coil building.

Welcome, from another fellow Arkansan! Your on an awesome journey. As far as not sleeping goes, you just exacerbated the problem by signing on to EGF! This is forum is way more addicting than nicotine!!!

I'm trying to choke down my last 30 mLs of RY4 so I feel you on the tobacco flavors. If you find a flavor you like but is a little strong, try mixing it with your tobacco flavors you might just be surprised.

Yes I'm still using an S3 'cause I spent all my money on Vaping!

That sounds like a good idea. have some 6 that I am letting steep. It is Mt Baker stuff and right now it is pretty off putting but it sounds like you really have to steep their stuff.

Alright another Arky! It is a great site. There is a ton of very useful info here. I did add a few drops of cherry to one of my tobacco flavors and that did help quite a bit. I was a big cig smoker but also smoked a ton of pipe tobacco and cigars so I thought well tobacco is the way to go. I guess it is pretty hard trying to recreate a tobacco flavor.

Thanks for the welcome Lurch! Yep, berry flavors are looking like the way to go for me too.

I agree with peraspera about the mech. The DNA20/DNA30 would be my choice as well. Because they are regulated devices. With a mech there is no regulation at all. So, when your mech mod acts like your ego650 does, when the bat is high the vape is good, but when the bat is low the vape is not as good.
Been threatening to try one but haven't Yet.

They are also a lot less likely to blow your face off should the atomizer on your topper short out.

Also if you are having a hard time finding a good tobacco juice try:
Traditional Flavors - ECBlend
7 Leaf (Reduced PG, Extra flavor) and 8 Leaf (Reduced PG) are my two ADVs

OBTW Welcome aboard

Holy crap! lol. Apparently I will need to do more research before I go that route.

Those dna 20 and 30's look pretty sweet. Would a kick in a mechanical make it any safer?

Also folks. These big clouds, is the flavor still there or is it more just for the giant fog.

My desire to become a human fog machine has yet to surface. So, next liar step forward.
I own a couple of Private V2s (mech mod) so the info I shared earlier is based on my using one for about a week using a Puritank with a 2.5 ohm atomizer head.
With a topper designed with sufficient wicking, airflow, and coil build huge clouds can be produced. Never having actually tried one flavor is a mystery to me. I can't even run my Vamo and PT at 7 Watts without burnt vapes and 15 watts is OMG.

I've got a couple of Kayfun 3.1s coming soon that I plan to play with but so far all of the coils I've built have been for a Protanks. So watch for the mushroom cloud.

A Kick as I understand them just controls the wattage provided to your topper. It basically turns your mech into a VW mod. I'm not really sure if it has overcurrent protection. It's less convenient though due to it's being inside the battery compartment. So, the adjustment to your vaping preference could be an adventure.

Greets. I live near Heber Springs and have been vaping a year or so now.

I use 12mg nic all day and have trouble sleeping if I vape it at night so I got some 6mg for using at night in a dripper when watching TV or whatever. It really seems to help. If I vape the 12mg up until bedtime I can guarantee waking up numerous times even if I do get to sleep and dreams are very weird or maybe I just notice them more as I wake up more often.

You'll get over the cigarette craving as time goes on but even after a year I still have "micro panic attacks" about them once in awhile. It just hits for a second and then goes away. I figure its 40+ years of habit still working its way out.
Either way its still way better than what I was doing so theres that....

Welcome to ECF.

You're not alone in the surprise of discovering your flavor preferences weren't as expected. I spent my first few weeks searching for a good tobacco flavor. I found most to be to dry or peppery for my liking. Tried a sweet tarts flavor on a lark and was off to the races. Most of my flavors are now in the fruit or fruit and cream category.

If or when you order from Mount Baker Vapor I suggest trying the Moo Juice if you haven't already. YUM

As for the sleep thing, some folk switch to a lower nic strength(0,6 or8mg) in the later part of the day for that very reason.

ENJOY

It's amazing how new juices can change your mind about what to vape. I was looking for a tobacco vape at first then found a bunch of flavors I would never have tried. Waiting on some Root Beer Float from Nicoticket now. What is this world coming to? Welcome to ECF. Try stuff.
