Hello all. Been lurking for a few weeks and decided to join and jump in head first. I'm still fairly new to vaping and trying to absorb as much information from the forum as possible. I've smoked for close to 25 years up until about 7 weeks ago when I began vaping. I've been tobacco free ever since.

My current setup is an MVP 2.0 (great lil device) and an evod vv as a backup. Even though a marlboro light smoker for many years, I've yet to find a juice even close to that. I've found menthol provides me the closest sensation to smoking therefore preventing me from picking up the analogs.

Big thanks to everyone here who contribute to the wealth of information tips/tricks, etc. Without you, I'd be lost.

Hi and welcome.

When I first started vaping I also wanted something that tasted like my Marlboros but after finding delicious dessert and fruit Vapes I decided I didn't want a tobacco taste at all. Most Vapers end up discovering that there's better tastes out there than a cigarette flavor.

I'm also from Kentucky (Lexington). There are lots of Vape shops in my area, so I'd suggest you find a good Vape shop that has a juice bar. Taste test all their juices. You'd be surprised at what may become your favorite.

Good luck :vapor:

I tried many many tobacco flavors at first, like you none really gave the sensation I was looking for. I began thinking of what I liked to eat and drink. I soon discovered that mt dew was great, and some of he fruit flavors were fantastic. Now I only vape a couple of tobacco flavors occasionally. Most of the juices I vape are from Bionic, they have the two tobacco's that I vape and all of the rest of them are great. I just got my first Drunken Cheesecake and just can't put it down. Here's a link for you.

Hello and welcome! Congratulations on making the switch.

+3 on the MVP (also have a couple of the VTR's) and ........ You get the picture. I've been at this for 8+ years.

Below are some blog posts by ECF member Baditude that I highly recommend for someone new to vaping and/or looking to upgrade.

1. A Good Starter's Setup for a Beginning Vapor
2. Advancing Up the Vaping Ladder with Egos and Mods
3. Proper terminology - Is it a carto, a tank, or what? A Guide to Juice Attachments.
4. Something Safe for Cinnamon and Citrus Flavors

And here are a few more on "vaping terminology".

1. A – Z E-Cig Glossary
2. e-Cigarette Jargon and Terms – eCig 101
3. Vaping Glossary - what does it all mean?
4. ECF Abbreviations 101

#4 is very handy when trying to decipher ECF members "slang"

Wait, What?? I have a doppelganger! and from Ky also! Haha... any ways... MVP for me also and I second the suggestion from my esteemed fellow Lexingtonian that you should try out one of the local Vape shops tasting bars if you"re in town.

Most every new vapor (including myself) was desperately searching for a "Marlboro" (insert favorate brand) taste starting out, but as soon as I started sampling all the great flavors available, I pretty much quit worrying about whether it tasted like tobacco. Except for Jon Wayne. I do still like me some Jon Wayne.

congrats, and welcome

Hi SuperFuzz,

Welcome to ECF! Congratulations on making the switch!
I'll fifth or sixth the just try all the flavors recommendations, I was super surprised by what I ended up liking and what I didn't. There are some good tobacco flavors out there....but none of them taste remotely like a burning chemically cigarette. Which turns out is not such a bad thing at all.

currently vaping apple pie ala mode :vapor:

enjoy your vaping journey!

I couldn't agree more... I thought I missed the tobacco taste until I finally discovered I few flavors I liked. I also found out quickly that your setup can make a world of difference in the flavor.

I lived in Lexington from '06 up until last year, still own property there and visit often. The only vape shop I've been to there was altsmoke on nicholasville rd. by the mall. I thought it was a fairly decent store compared to a few smaller shops I've been to in other towns. Staff seemed knowledgeable and eager to help. They have a menthol juice that I liked really well so I can see a visit again in my near future, lol...

Thanks for links Susan. Lots of good info to absorb. Kinda get overwhelmed at times, but definitely enjoying the ride! Now I just need to figure out if my face is breaking out (acne) due to detox from the cigs or if the ejuice/vaping is causing them. Always had a clear complexion and now at 37, I have acne... Nobody said this would be easy, lol.

I use to be a Lexingtonian as well, still frequent there often. Other than altsmoke, any other local shops in Lex that I must check out?

Hay I'm new, too, and from KY--up in Louisville.
Maybe there are more of us- LOL.
Welcome to ECF (late to the party). And have fun.
Vape On.

Funny story... I was in Louisville a few months back to see a show at the Palace. I was outside smoking with 30-40 others. I quickly noticed that I was one of very few that wasn't vaping. In eastern KY, vaping hasn't caught on like it has in the bigger cities. I still look out of place here but it was that show at the Palace that for the first time planted the idea in my head that vaping may indeed work as an aid to quit smoking finally after all these years. Thanks for the welcome!!
