Hi guys,

I bought my first ecigarette about 5 years ago. I do not remember the brand name, liquid or any other specifics, but I do remember that it was not an enjoyable experience (short battery life, messy refills, nasty tasting liquids). After using it a couple times it ended up in my junk drawer and eventually thrown away.

I've been smoking for 19 years, minus a 2 year period where I quit cold turkey and craved a cigarette the entire time until I finally gave in to the cravings. My failed attempts since then have been chantix (worst meds ever), the patch (knocked me down to 2 cigarettes a day but I could never get off of the 2 a day/patch combo), and several other cold turkey attempts.

This past summer during vacation I wanted to try to quit again so I brought some patches along and bought a disposable Logic ecig while I was there. I smoked the Logic very lightly while wearing the patch, just enough to curb cravings, and the single ecig lasted me the entire week.

When returning home I couldn't find these Logics anywhere, got frustrated with the patch, and ended up smoking analogs again. I had my mind set on the logics and nothing else because of the horrible experience I had with my first rechargable years ago.

Fast forward to Christmas. My brother, also a smoker, announces that he and his wife are expecting their first child. I'm excited to be an uncle, have 2 kids of my own. Smoking while having kids is a terrible inconvenience for yourself and the kids. You can't smoke around them. They have to smell the smoke on you. Personally, the main reason for wanting to quit smoking were my kids. I don't want them around it at all, and I don't want them to have to worry about me dying from a smoke related illness. I watched my mother go through that as a teenager, and have had to watch my mother smoke hr entire life despite of that, and it really bothers me. My kids should not go through that.

And neither should my brother's kids. His upcoming baby was the kick I needed to finally take this seriously. I did a lot of reading here and at reddit, bought some gear, and started vaping on the 5th of January with the plan on serving as an example for him and converting once I made the switch for good.

Making the switch was not easy. I've smoked for almost 20 years with many failed attempts, so I did not expect it to be easy. My first week I cut down from a pack a day to a half a pack. Early in my 2nd week I was down to 1 or 2 a day. Finally I took the plunge and went to work with nothing but my ecig during a 12 hour ..... It was that day that I realized that quiting analogs was a very obtainable goal.

In the past week and a half I have had 1 analog. They are nasty to me now. Food tastes better. My lungs are not weazing at every breath. I had a terrible habit of chain smoking on the way to work, smoking about 5-6 cigarettes before I even got there. This made me feel horrible everytime, but it was something I did everyday regardless.

My gear is a 510 auto, ego twist and a vamo. I have a few more autos on the way for mindless hands free vaping, and a couple regulated egos for taking to work. I have around 20 different flavors of juice, still trying to find my all day vape. My current all day is MBV's Ecto Cooler, but really need to find something smoother and less sour. Any suggestions?

I'm not saving money yet over smoking because I can't stop buying gear! I am happy with my hardware setup right now though, so any future purchases will be in search of that all day vape, which I will hopefully find soon.

Thanks for reading, I am looking forward to being an active member of this community.

I know what you mean, I'm still trying to find that elusive all day vape, but I came to realize I might not ever find just one that I'll be happy with. I can vape one flavor all day, but I can't vape the same flavor for more than about two days straight. The flavor just becomes dead to my taste buds after a while. Something that has helped me a ton is mints and menthol. I NEVER smoked menthol when I was a smoker but for some reason those flavors really satisfiy my when I'm looking for something with more TH. Menthol may not be for you but I guess my point would be to keep an open mind and ask yourself what kind of flavors do you really like to taste and try to duplicate that in your vape. The 20 flavors you currently have is great in my opinion, the more options you have the less likely you will be to cave to analogs. Good luck to you and your quest for your ADV.

Hello and welcome to the forum. It sounds like you're off to an awesome start. I haven't been vaping long myself. When I first started vaping I was bound and determined to find the perfect tobacco flavor and it was a search that for me failed. Once I started experimenting with different types of flavors that I like to eat then I found some really good and some really bad flavors. So instead of my all day vape being tobacco flavor like I thought I wanted I now vape Strawberry Kiwi about 75% of the day and then Sugar Cookie the remainder of the day just to keep my taste buds from getting so used to the strawberry that I no longer taste it. Also, consider buying from more than one vendor. The reason is that sure they usually sell the same flavors, but each mixes their own juice so the flavors can change a pretty fair amount from one vendor to another. Congrats on your progress and on improving your health and happiness!

Congrats on the change over, you and I have a VERY similar past with the analogs and I too took the plunge on the 5th. According to my VapeMate app I'm not saving any money yet, in fact I'm in the hole for a little more than I'd like, but from what I've read and what the friends who "converted" me have said, that's to be expected while find your perfect setup.

Welcome and congratulations! There are hundreds if not thousands of vendors out there, so buy small bottles before committing to big ones. Regarding saving money, I've been at this a year and am still about $300 in the hole, but look at it this way - I haven't smoked for 6 months, and I would gladly have paid $300 then to be where I am today. :)
Good luck!

Welcome to ECF. The road is not always an easy one. Some people take to it easier and faster than others. There are some that never quit analogs altogether but instead knock it down to minimal usage.

From the sounds of it you've got a pretty decent set up going.

As far as juice goes well.... "taste is subjective". Flavor and pg/vg ratio is something you will have to figure out on your own. Sure we call all tell you what we use and where we get it but you might not like what we do. Even if it sounds really good. That said; I recommend you get some sample packs from various suppliers and go from there.

To help you on your way, I will tell you what I am currently vaping on.

Currently I am switching between a few flavors Dragons Blood is what I am using this second. It has a creamy strawberry flavor. I tend to switch juices throughout the day. In an hour I may be vaping Grass Hoppa which tastes like chocolate mint girl scout cookies. Later I may move on to Hatchlings Breath which tastes and smells like altoids. The juices I am currently using all came from PBDragon. They sell 6 pack sample packs. https://www.pbdragon.com/lair/e-juice/1-e-juice-sample-packs.html

You can also read over my juice review if you like of the current 6 juices I am using from them. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/general-e-liquid-reviews/373453-6-pbdragon.html

There are many juice supplier good luck on your journey.
