Thanks to folks at my office, I just recently got into vaping. I started out with the Vuze brand of e-cigs that seem to be in every corner shop, and then jumped on Apollo's free starter kit offer about a month ago. Since then, I've purchased two KangerTech tanks (broke one the first day, didn't realize that the mouthpiece detached, ended up picking up an upgraded one the next day) and I've been exploring various juices with great success. So far, my favorite has been the Dragon's Blood from Atomic Vapor Shop in Warminster, PA.

My story is a bit different from most of the other new folks I've read about on here. Prior to this, I wasn't a smoker. I only even picked up the Vuze in order to identify with my father, who has been trying to find a way to kick the cigarette habit for years. That being said, vaping has had some positive effects for me. I use it as a substitute for snacking at my desk in my home office, and while on my long commute to work and back, and it's been very effective. I've been sticking to low or non-nicotine juices for the time being. There's also a bit of a geek draw for me, and picking up new hardware for my vape setup isn't quite as expensive as my other geeky hobbies.

I'll probably be looking for advice on new batteries in the near future, since the Apollo eGo battery that I currently have runs out of juice even quicker than my Protank 3, but for now I'm enjoying looking around at everyone else's setups, and learning a bit more about my new hobby.

Welcome to ECF, Stewart. You will get all the information you desire here.

I've heard a couple stories about non-smokers starting to vape to cut back on snacking and both I heard about said they had good results. Being retired, I don't face that in the workplace, but understand it after many years working in an office.

Enjoy your stay here.

Welcome! I started out with the Vuse too. How long was it before you moved on? While I was a smoker prior, I doubt that I was seriously addicted to nicotine (I could go all day without smoking and had; my boyfriend on the other hand is most definitely addicted and gets antsy if he doesn't have a cigarette every hour or so). One thing that turned me off about the Vuse is that it was strong. I don't think it said anywhere on the package, but I've heard the the nicotine levels are like 36-48 mg on it!

So that combined with the "meh" factor of the flavor, I brought an eGo startup kit as soon as I got paid that following week. Picked up 12 mg nicotine juices and now I'm down to 6 mg. I'm vaping more than I smoked either cigarettes or the Vuse, But I doubt that I am overdoing it on the nicotine due to the differences in how it's absorbed (smoking vs. vaping).

I think I stumbled across the Apollo deal about a month into using the Vuse cigs. I suspect you might be right about the nicotine levels, the Vuze cigs would make me sick on a fairly regular basis. (Besides, the originals tasted like a mouthful of fireplace ash to me.) 6mg with the Apollo hasn't had the same effect even once on me. The taste and the experience is far better, and I do find myself using the vape a lot more than the Vuse.
