Hamilton, Oh
Well...

I'm new to this whole thing and at the moment I'm completely clueless where to start. I'm currently a pack a day smoker (Marlboro full flavor) and I'm looking to stop smoking. I've been smoking now for about 10 years and I've tried quitting a few times. I've tried cold turkey, I've tried those quest cigarettes, I've tried the gum and the patches. No luck...

I just came across these things today for the first time ever, I had no idea such a thing was out there.

Long story short, I'm looking for a fairly cheap e-cig that will last me a few months while I give quitting another and hopefully a final shot.

Times are pretty hard for me right now so I'm looking for a e-cig for around $50-60 or at the very most I could maybe go $80, unless I waited a while to make the purchase.

I was watching this guy on youtube and thought that the one he had looked pretty cool, like a real cigarette and the refill carts he said where like 10-15 dollars and would equal the amount of a carton of regular cigs.
If anyone could point me in the direction of where to buy one like his or perhaps reccamend something else, I would be very very grateful.

Well first off, vaping feels a lot different from smoking.
I just started recently myself, and its very different.
Its just as satisfying to me, but other people beg to differ.
If your looking for a really good e-cig, your not going be getting one that looks like a cigarette.
The smaller e-cigarettes are lacking in power and battery life.
I made this mistake, and got a mini, cigarette sized one first.
It was ok, dont get me wrong, but I like the larger ones so much better.
More battery, more vapor, more throat hit.

I also just got my e-cigar today, and it hits like a beast.
Cold cold vapor, not a whole lot of it, but it gives a really good throat hit.
Its about 7-8 inches long, maybe 3/4ths of an inch wide and I dont think Ill be using anything else while Im at home.

If you really want a small one, and feel youll be happy with it, then go for an M401:LITECIG USA
These are tried and tested e-cigs, and they are absolutely awesome for their size.

If you feel like you might want something more powerful, get a VX2.
PM "kaeo773"
Hes got some hes selling, and I just got one from him.
Its absolutely awesome, and hes a great guy.

Now if you really want a powerful e-cig, I mean like a top performer, do some research around the forums on the Screwdriver or Prodigy or GG or Janty Stick.
All of these have ridiculous battery life, and you wont find anything better

Welcome to the forums, I hope you find everything you need

WELCOME!! And good luck with trying to quit! Everyone has their favoriate device and everyone is different. I suggest you look at the reviews section (preferably the video one) so you can see what they all look like and the pro & cons of the different ones. Once you know what model you want you can hunt for prices. You can visit the sellers section and see what people say about the different sellers.

From my own personal experiences, my top 2 are the DSE901 and the manual 510 (also known as the yeti/titan and others). The 510 being my #1!! I bought mine from eastmall.net for $43 and bought a bunch of juice that I thought I would like. You do have to buy 5-20ml bottles though for $50. They can be all the same or 5 different flavors. They are the best in customer service that I have EVER come across. They are in China though so it would be a longer wait.

Have a look around and READ AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!! There is SOOOOOOOOO much info in this forum it's just GREAT!

Good luck in finding your perfect PV!! :)

Wow you guys are fast with the helpful responses.

I found one that is a good price, I'm not sure what kind of reviews it has though. It's a M-401 GOLD EDITION, the price is $39.95. I'll browse around the site and see if anyone has tried it.

The M401 is a hard little hitter. I use one myself and love it. It has its drawbacks though. Very small, batteries have to be charged often, so I have quite a few extras. Cartridges have to be refilled often.

How you use it will make a difference. I travel a lot, so I like something small to keep in my pocket and supplies go in my computer case.

If you're at home a lot, you may want to look into a pen style, which is larger, more battery life, and less cartridge filling. Cartridges don't last long. You'll need juice to refill, so you can save money.

Everyone has their favorites. Research them to see what's best for you, and then people will help you get the most of it.

I'm new too, but I found the Janty kissbox extended classic a good buy for me...A big part of that reason is the warranty, and all the things that came with it. It came with 2 batts, 1 atty, 2 switches, a case, usb passthrough with car and wall adapter etc...I ordered an extra atty just to be safe, since I don't want to go back to analogs. Now if something fails, I have an extra of everything, so I can send the broken part back and still have my spare until the replacement is shipped. Considering that most consider the atomizer a disposable part, it's good to have a warranty on it.

That said, I do intend to buy a SD now. While the KB is fine, I'm just looking for something with REALLY long battery life for my next e-cig. I'll never part with my KB, but for long hiking trips etc...a longer battery life would be nice.

Sounds like you did your research. When you're new toy comes, there are others here that can keep you in business. I try to stress the point to keep enough atomizers on hand. You're dead in the water without them.

Kinda...I, like many others bought a super mini first. Mine was an Npro, again, the warranty thing...lol

Then I really started researching, and found that while Janty products are a bit on the pricey side, they have a good rep for quality and a good warranty. The KB fit the bill, and functions flawlessly!:) I love this thing, puffing on it now as I type.

Now I'm trying to find someone with a SD in stock to order now. I go on day hikes sometimes, so I need something with stupid long battery life.:p

Based on how much and what you smoked, I would STRONGLY suggest you get a manual switch PV. If is real important to you that it look like the real thing, then I would suggest the Janty Dura-C/510 or the manual version (coming out next week) of the DSE901. You will get more control and more consistent throat hit with a manual (you push a button) vape than with an auto switch PV. The autos all have cut off's that limit how much you can inhale and the switches can more easily break.

After a bit of browsing around the forum and a few other sites, I'm pretty sure at the moment I'm going with the m401.

My question is this, (sorry I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer) what exactly do I need to stock up on?

From what I understand, I can buy the pre-filled carts or I can buy carts and drip liquid in them? It also seems like having a few back up atomizers is a good idea?

Sorry, I've only just discovered these things today, got a lot to pick up on still...

I can only recommend the Janty Stick. Its got battery life, convenience and its a manual switch. If you had a little more cash..who knows. Yet at that figure...its the best option out there. Wait if its backordered, because i have had a few and until i PERSONALLY test a my preordered Prodigy..its the one i recommend to EVERYONE.

Empty carts and liquid are your best bet. The prefilled are nice for about 2 days until you realize you will be needing about 5 each day, that can become really expensive (seems like you are on a bit of a budget?) Look around on here and the juice reviews, compare prices and flavors, and try a few out. Johnson Creek has a sample pack of 10 flavors just so you can get an idea and it comes with some other accessories that are really helpful to have, but make sure you have some other juice in the meantime because they take a while to ship.

Buy extra atomizers and batteries! I don't know which model you decided on but check out www.thesmokelessshop.com That's a nice little starter kit with extras and Katy is very nice and helpful.

Good luck to you :)

Oh, and if you haven't done so, watch the Spikey video that is a sticky on the top

Carts are usually prefilled, but don't last long. You'll want juice to refill your own. I use unflavored, but you'll probably want to try a sample pack.
Get a couple of batteries, and you might want to look into a passthrough.

A couple of spare atomizers are a must. Don't get caught with only one. If it blows out, you'll be buying a pack of analogs.
