welcome! im relatively new here too. im sure you'll find a ton of good info to lead you down a path of vaping goodness 
My first post! I just purchases my first 'real' vapor setup. Vision Spinner 1300mah and a 650mah with the Kanger pyrex (smaller version). I went with Organic Virgin Vapor liquid flavors. As a tobacco pipe smoker, I can say this is an awesome experience. I pray that this stuff stays legal here in California (and the rest of the world for everyone else's sake).
I will say that I feel it's best to buy the best products you can afford up front. The voltage adjustment on my batteries wasn't available with the cheaper kits they tried to sell me. I can't imagine not having it!
Also, using pyrex 'bowls' seems way more prudent/sturdy and healthier than plastic.
One more note, the battery life on the smaller vision (650mah I believe) isn't very good. Hoping it improves with more charge cycles....
I'm sure there's much discussion on the main boards about the use of Propelyne Glycol. My feeling is that it should be avoided if possible. Any thoughts from newbies out there? I did notice at the shop I went to, they were very charged(read defensive) when I brought it up.

There is a lot of information floating around, locally at B&M, on Google, youtube, on this and other forums. The problem is that this is a relatively new thing, and although there is alot of research on some of the components involved, there may not be much on how these things work together. So, if someone is looking for THE answer, that is probably not going to happen
However, the great thing about this forum is that there are a wide variety of opinions and information from people who have lots of experience, real world and research-wise, with everything e-cigs and analogs. So, we share it with each other, and I can take it in, evaluate it, and make my own decisions.
I am also a "newbie", but I spend alot of time reading and learning from this forum. I have found that there is no better place for me than this gang.

I'm certain that at some point I might get one of the fancy ones. Right now I'm perfectly content with the Volt I picked up. I like the feeling of holding a cigarette. Some of the friends in town have a wide array of kits so i've had my hands on some really expensive stuff. But, at the end of the day, I needed something that would replace a cigarette. Thanks for the welcome though!
