Hi all
I came the long way getting here. It started as somewhat of a fluke. A co-worker showed me an 'e-cig' he picked up at 7-11 for about $20. Said he doesn't like to smoke in his truck along with his wife and child. OK, I've been thinking of quitting for years, maybe I'll give it a try. I didn't find the thing to be very satisfying at all so I googled it (X-hale 02) and came up with some sort of survey that stated, "The Safe Cig" was the #1 choice among E-smokers. OK, I'll try it ($130 for 3 batteries and 10 cartomizers and various chargers).
That, too, was not very satisfying, often times tasting a little burnt. Somehow, I stumbled onto this forum. I'm in quite a few forums for various hobbies and interests so I started by reading the stickies.
I then read, in it's entirety, the 6 part epic by DonDaBoomVape. OK, WOW. I went on a sponsor site Vapor4Life and bought 2 extra long batteries, a charger, a few different cartomizers (including blanks) and a couple different juices (36mg).
I've been a smoker for about 45 years. At this point in time, it's been 2 days and 6 hours since my last cigarette. I seem to be vaping a little more than I'm comfortable with, something akin to an opium addict but I think this may subside after a bit.
I'm thinking of getting a larger battery and I've already ordered a pass thru for driving and the computer.
I'm brand new at this and the options boggle the mind. I believe I have a KR8 (Vapor King) so, do I need to switch models (again) to get a mildly modded arrangement that will last a while?
I apologize for rambling on
Take care all
Richard

Greetings! I'm new here too and bought a Joye 510 a few months ago and still learning about it all. Just wanted to jump in here and say welcome from one newbie to another and big congrats on 2 days and 6hrs! I lasted a week without regular cigs using my ecig till I found I was highly allergic to the PG liquid. Just waiting now for my VG liquid order to get here so I can get back to my quit again.

Glad you found the ECF and welcome.
You will get a bunch of differing thoughts on which kit we think you should now go try. You'll hear a lot about the Ego. The battery life is amazing compared to the stock batteries. The atomizer is a 510 and gives a much harder and warmer throat hit. You have done good by getting the KR8. It is a decent starter kit, sorry bout the X-hale 02.
It is normal to vape more than you smoked to begin with, your body is wanting the chemicals from the cigs you were smoking. It'll settle down some and when the newness of your e-cig wears down a bit maybe you'll step it down some. I have been at it a year next month and still vape pretty heavily. If I have a busy day, I don't vape as much. It's all good in my book.

Don't know if you have been here to read: http://vapingguides.com/blog/

Greetings to you as well. From the volumes that I've read so far it would seem that the "510" or one of its derivatives is the way to go. I'm actually pretty happy with what I have now other than the charging time. I pop out the rubber cap and drip in about 10 drops and it's good to go. I find that I like the flavors, particularly peppermint, that I was almost afraid to try. I'm into this for a fair amount of money at this point and think I'll hold off for a bit on any more "experiments".
I hope the VG works well for you. I didn't actually 'quit' smoking per se, I just stopped. If that makes any sense at all.
Good Luck

Welcome to ECF newbies.
It's all about the juices.,.PG / VG & nicotine levels..and the FLAVOR..
mix them up and find what you like
but
It's all about equipment, little (looks like a cig) big (looks like a cigar) or mod (looks like it came out of a toy box)
Then decide what voltage (power) to vape at ?
GOT IT ? ...it's clear as mud but twice as fun :) enjoy the journey

I have the Joye Ego with 510 Cartridges. Got my kit on Cignot plus some liquids for about $80 total. Plus now more cartridges and VG that I found on some other sites that had good deals and that came to almost $30. Yep, not so cheap to get started, but in the long run, much cheaper on our health. I was able to make 10 drops last me all day. Not sure what that adds up to be, but I know it is cheaper than $6 for a pack of smokes. Plus the flavor selections out there - I'm over whelmed! Why go to Star Bucks and drink a Carmel Mocha Latte for $8 when you can vape it for about 50 cents! :D Now If I can just find beer VG I'll be in business

Yes, I do know whatcha mean about just stopped it per se. I know of a man who had been smoking for over 45 yrs. He used to go to a casino everyday that my BFF worked at. He would chain smoke all day long. Then one day my BFF saw he had an ecig and that is all she would see him with for months. Then, he gave that up too. He said he just had no desire for it anymore either.
I've been smoking for 25 yrs and know that the ecig will be my replacement

Off to go kill a spider that just jumped near me.

All the best!

Get the new EGO. I am new to this too but the battery on this last for hours and it uses a 510 atomizer which is compatable with a lot of other models like the titan. The cheapest I found it was at Vaperheads.net for 47.95. I am trying another vendor for the accessories as he has the latest and greatest at CloudsofVaper.com. He also has some all natural organic e juice that is getting good reviews. Dripping seems to be the prefered method for the best taste. I have only gotten vg juice. Supposedly Vg produces more vapor and PG produces more flavor. Vg seems to be a little thicker and works good for dripping method. If you plan on using the cartomizers that have the atomizer and filter together you may want to get mostly pg or pg/vg mixed. Good luck. Just remember this is so much better for you than smoking and cheaper in the long run too.

I just got my first e-cig, a KR8 and I like it. I need better cartos and liquid but the hardware is good. I've only had it for a day and a half so I can't give too much input or compare it to anything else.

On the topic of how often you vape...

I just started vaping yesterday. For the first couple hours, I was doing it constantly because it was new and cool and fun etc. What I have been doing is waiting until I get the urge to go outside for a smoke. That is when I take 2 or 3 pulls on my new KR8 with 18 mg nic content. That has been keeping me satisfied since there is more nic in the vapor than in a regular analog.

The other thing with doing this method is that a single KR8 battery has lasted me all day today. (My first full day of vaping) And I am still on my first cartomizer as well. Many others report using a battery in a few hours and 2 or 3 cartos a day. Since I am only taking a few pulls every hour or so, I am not using nearly that much.

Just thought I would pass that along.
