Well after about 15 years with cigarettes my first starter kit came in from V2, I went a little overboard for my first order going for the ultimate kit with all the little gadgets but I figured I needed something to keep me occupied and not smoking, and at around 10 dollars a pack here in New York I figured what would it hurt.

Day one, Kit came in Yesterday January 3rd 2014, gave the batteries some time to charge and finished my hopefully final pack of smokes. First impressions are that I really enjoy this, my father was inquisitive, asking all the how it works and all that type of stuff.

The kit came with 25 carts, 10 Red, 10 Menthol 5 congress and as an added bonus a 5 pack of pumpkin 6 mg, I ordered all 18 mg seeing as I smoked full flavored I would see if these touch my cravings, and surprisingly so far they are doing the trick. 3 batteries, one of each length to see what I like, a slide case, and an xl charging case. all the chargers and the powered cigarette and come things that I probably forgot, If there is one thing I didn't quite understand it's that why didn't they throw in the xl slide case? i can't fit the long battery in the regular one but whatever.

Day two January 4th and i've tried almost all the carts so far and I the congress is my favorite so far, Menthol tastes like toothpaste to me coming from menthol cigarettes I was expecting something more along those lines, and the red are just blah, One final puff and it still is vapable but I could live without it if I had to.

Can't comment on the battery life yet as I haven't used them all that much but I have had to plug the two smaller sizes into the charger a bunch of times already, maybe this is normal but I'm not 100 percent sure yet.

Anyways I apologize for the lengthy first post but I can't wait to get into this 100 percent, seems so much fun and so many things to try, and along with being light years healthier than smoking. Tons and tons of things to try from what I've seen, mods, flavors, tanks, carts and the list goes on and on. The only thing I can compare it to was using Nasal Snuff with the multitude of brands and offerings that are out there. I think in the end I'll be a Nasal Snuff/Vaper each having their own benefits. I know that's going to hit the purists hard but we all have our thing.

Hope to have a great time on this forum, learning from and meeting new and interesting people.

In my happy place
Welcome to ECF! I started a little over a month ago with the same type of ecig as you. Mine was a Halo, I quickly learned from this forum that it was not going to be enough. I went and visited the local vape shop and bought a ego battery and tank system. I also tasted many of the ejuices that they have available and found a few I liked. I thought I wanted something that tasted like burning tobacco and I walked out with nothing like that. I got hazelnut, vanilla, butterscotch, and cinnamon, and cherry. I have since ordered other flavors from other places based on reviews here. For your batteries; they are KR808d-1 you can get a small tank system that greatly increases the flexibility and power of them. e-Smart clearomizers - package of 5 I found the cartos a pain to fill and buying replacements without refilling them costs both good planing and $$. It is cheaper and easier to buy juice and put it into a tank system.

Again welcome and I hope you are successful in kicking the stinky habit and join the vapor club.

Edit fixed link.

Congrats for making the switch.

I too started with the V2 setup with 18 mg cartomizers 5 months ago. After my kit arrived I finished of the last pack of cigarettes that I had while using the V2nd have never bought another. Congress was my favorite as well. My second favorite was the cherry. So I thought I would like to try other flavors and I was getting tired of refilling the cartos - it was never the same as a fresh one - so my journey began. So I ordered some V2 clearomizers and some Kanger E-Smart clearomizers and some juice. I definitely preferred the Kanger clearos. What a difference. I never went back to the cartos. I also never went back to tobacco flavor juices. Now I have 3 evod 1000 mah's, 2 vision spinners 1300mah, extra chargers, several Kanger evod bottom coil clearomizers, several Kanger glass protanks, several Iclear 16 clearomizers and a gajillion juices. After stepping down the nicotine I am now at 6 mg. I clean tanks and coils but I don't rebuild. I don't see myself adding to my gear - what I have suits me. Who knows where your journey may lead.

I still use my V2 batteries - they are still going strong - and the V2 and Kanger clearos on them, particularly when I want something a bit more discrete.

The great thing about ECF is you can find information for every level and every direction your path might lead you. Enjoy the journey!

These are exactly the types of posts and recommendations I was searching for thanks so much guys, I know I'll never find the perfect setup and will always be buying and trying new gear, new juices, new everything, and you make a good point about refilling cartomizers and the taste never being the same, I had never even thought about that and what a pain it would be to refill them for sub standard quality out of some possibly very flavorful juices. And i too would think that I want that burning tobacco taste but I haven't had anything else for years and years so it's a new learning process and waiting to see how it goes, although I'm only on day 2 I actually feel like this is doable.

I just passed my auto batteries off to my sister to help her quit.

westhc if you are looking for something more discrete I just picked up a ego 350 mini battery between the battery and the mini protank2 it is only a hair over 4 1/2 inches. It provides the same amount of power as the standard ego but it is tiny. I paid $10 bucks for it and it lasted me all day on Friday. Here is a thread about them. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ego-type-models/504690-loving-ego-350-minis.html

When I first tried vaping to quit in 2011, I literally ordered every tobacco juice with good reviews to replace my analogs. Nothing worked for me and I went back to analogs. I also started with a cig-like battery...which was way too much work with little return. I restarted vaping 4 days ago, avoiding tobaccos completely and I think it's going to be the ticket for me. Learning to enjoy alternate flavors to tobacco, but with decent throat hit and vapor. Trying to satisfy your tobacco flavor needs/expectations in the e juice realm is like bumming an analog from someone who doesn't smoke your brand.. it gets you by in a way.. in the moment, but all you can think about is buying a pack of your own brand to be completely satisfied.. It will never be a complete match. Either learn to love a new tobacco flavor, or steer clear of tobacco and embrace fruits, sweets etc. as your new go to flavor love. The vapor and throat hit makes a huge difference.
Not the expert here for sure, but I think I have my personal psychology nailed, and I think vaping will be much more successful for me with a refreshed set of expectations in the flavor arena, and the newer, less fussy, more enjoyable equipment I have purchased. Only 4 days in, but damn I am feeling good about this so far.

Actually quite funny... one of the RY4's highly touted as an excellent replacement for Marlboro Reds...
I rushed to order it (the big bottle, of course), and upon it's arrival, I received mega paper cuts trying to get it un-enveloped so fast so I could vape it.... and...

Disgusting grossness.

I buy fresh Salmon on the down low at the fishing docks here in Seattle (for a really good price, BTW ;)).. I take them home in a cooler.. I eventually drag my cooler out in the yard to wash it out later in the day after I clean the Salmon... yeahhh... the vape had the identical smell.. fresh fishy. OK for fish, but I don't recall that EVER from a Marb Red.
Taste. Is. Subjective.

Painter - thanks for the info on the mini battery. I will definitely keep that in mind when my V2 batteries die or all my 808 clearos are gone. I wonder which will come first - 5 months on the batteries, 4 months on the clearos. I am at the point now that I am not buying anything except juice unless I need it. At month 4 I passed the point where vaping is less expensive than cigarettes so no new toys for at least another month.

Ry4 has changed a lot. When I first started vaping a few years ago it was delicious. I bought a bottle a few weeks ago and was super disappointed in what it has turned into.

this is probably more from your taste changing back to normal after not smoking for a long time. Was it the same liquid from the same vendor?? All RY4s are not the same

I started out with a Halo G6 kit with all the goodies and it didn't work out for me. I went back to analogs then about 3 months later I decided to give it another go. I have a ton of Vaping stuff. Thanks to this forum and other local stores opening near me that really got me going. If I had to name one piece of vape gear I couldn't go without it would be a eGo Twist and a mini protank 2.

At first I thought I was looking for that cig type taste too. Now I am way beyond that. My favorite juices taste nothing like cigs. More like a bakery or candy store lol. Smells soo good in my house. Although I never smoked indoors. Just another benefit to Vaping. No more standing in the cold!

Good job making the switch and keep at it. There is a lot of encouragement on this forum. I know it helped me through!

I started with a disposable from the pharmacy across from my work. Within 3 weeks I went from those, to egos, then to a Vamo. Within two months I have used tanks, drippers, cartos, RBA's you name it. Funny thing is when people say that those things cost too much. I have spent one fourth of what it would cost me if I was still on cigs. I now have all I need and My costs are nill.
