Hey fellow vapers! I've been vaping for about a year now but I just started using an rda. Was just wonering I if I have a good setup. I'm using a nemesis mod by atmomixoni with a brass monkey. I have two different batteries, one is a efest 18350 800 mah (red) and also this weird thing called a subohmcell 18650. I'm also using a single 1.3ohm coil. So my question is this: what does everyone think about this setup and what about the subohmcell?

First off, welcome to ECF!

Secondly, the subohmcell claims the same specs of several other rewrapped batteries such as the purple eFests and the MXJO's. The purple eFests have been discovered as actually being LG HE2's so I would venture to guess these 'subohmcell's' are likely the same. However, google has provided a site that claims to have done testing on these cells proving they are truly 35A:

Subohmcell 18650 35amp 2800 mAh Battery - Kidney Puncher

As for your setup, at 1.3Ω you are totally safe and I think it's a great beginner RDA setup. :)

Used (and unknowingly abused) some red efest 18350s (v2, I believed) when I was new to dripping. They held true and lasted a good while, and if you're consistently tying coils above an ohm you won't have any problems. Perfectly safe with that 18650, as well.

Does the Brass Monkey allow you to use one set of airholes, though? In pictures it looks like it's always gonna have both open, and an rda with airholes on either side but just one coil rigged up would produce a much less flavorful and satisfying vape than it would with a pair.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Glad to have you here!:)

If you are new to rebuildables I highly recommend you spend some time with Baditude (one of our resident battery experts) and visit his blogs. Make sure you purchase an ohm reader or a DMM so you can measure your builds.

Baditudes Blogs. The blogs regarding battery safety, Ohm's Law and rebuildables are listed below:

BATTERIES

9. Battery Basics for Mods: IMR or Protected ICR?
* Another essential read to understand which batteries are safe to use in mechanical and regulated mods. Includes a frequently updated list of recommended safe-chemistry, high-drain batteries with their specifications.

17. Purple Efest Batteries Not As Advertised
* A cautionary blog that reveals that the purple Efest batteries may not have the specifications advertised. Also includes a commentary on "continuous discharge ratings" vs "pulse discharge ratings" of battery specs.

OHM'S LAW

14. Ohm's Law for Dummies (Vapers)
* My attempt at explaining Ohm's Law in layman terms and how it relates to vaping.

16. Explain it to the Dumb Noob: Ohm's Law Calculations
* As simple as it is to use, some people have a tough time grasping the concept. Warning: Includes graphic photos of mod explosions.

REBUILDABLES

7. Information Resources for Your First RBA
* An essential read and reference guide for someone new to rebuilding coils. Includes a multitude of useful links on battery safety, mod safety, coil meters, coil building, and the differences in the three types of RBA's.
