So i'm sick of smoking cigs and would like to move to vaping and control my nicotine intake more.

But i'm confused as to what vape pen I should get, I don't want to be a fog machine and I don't wanna have to buy a specific companys refills that only works with their pen/device. I'm looking to spend about £10-30 but the market seems swamped with cheap rubbish that leaks etc. I just need a decent, portable device that I can buy generic refills for.

Anybody recommend me a first vape? And i'm glad to join to a new forum.

I started with the Suboxnano. I was a fan of it. But it is more than you want to spend. It cost me 120 USD for everything. That is the mod, the tank, the battery, a charger, the tank, and some juice. But as far as I know the juice does not matter. You can put any juice in anything. I am newish myself to this. But I am asking my friend now =) He said that Cinnamon juice or juice with a lot of sweetener can be bad for your tank. But other than that, the juice does not matter.

Cinnamon is fine is a glass tank. I use it all the time with no problems. :vapor:

Welcome to ECF. To the best of my knowledge to spend between 10 - 30 Euros and not subject yourself to a particular companies replacement Heads would be difficult. Most e pens use that companies heads.
You can get an iStick 20 for about $30 & a Aspireor Kangertech Tank for another $24, but would still be stuck using their replacement heads. The Vape would be quite rewarding and no more Vaper than a Cig. And put together they are compact.
There is a Pen style at about $27 but can't recall the name of it off hand. Never fear though someone will be along that will remember soon.
Best wishes in stay Cig free

So the real problem is that when you put that type of cost limit on a kit, your options get narrowed down to stuff that are going to be disappointing as a vaping experience. Bump it up 20 or 30 quid and there are options like the Kanger Subox or Toptank that are very good starter units, or pairing a Nautilus Mini tank with a small iStick unit. £50 for a kit that works for you in money better spent than £30 for a kit that ends up in the junk collection or getting binned.

OK, so call me old-fashioned. I would recommend a Kanger Evod or Kanger Evod 2 setup to see if vaping will work for you. The original Kanger Evod uses single coils, which are very reasonably priced for genuine Kanger coils. They can also be cleaned, re-wicked, and/or rebuilt, depending on your preference and desire to prolong coil life. I do not rebuild or rewick, but I manage to get an extra 2-3 uses from each coil by cleaning them. The Kanger Evod 2 uses dual coils, which are also reasonably priced for genuine Kanger coils. Evod and Evod 2 starter kits are very reasonably priced, and usually come with 2 batteries, 2 clearomizers with coils, and usb charger. For my daughter and myself, they provided a very satisfactory vape experience at a price we could afford.

I would also add a glass clearomizer such as a Protank or Evod Glass. Some eliquids are known as "tank crackers" and can damage the plastic clearomizers that come with the Evod starter kits. These are also very reasonably priced, and use either Kanger single or dual coils, depending on which model you get. My personal preference is for the Evod Glass with a Kanger single coil in the 1.8-2.2 ohm range. My daughter prefers the Evod Glass with a Kanger dual coil in the 1.5-1.8 ohm range.

We use eliquids from various vendors, and these clearomizers can handle most eliquids that we have tried in the 50/50 pg/vg to 70 vg/30pg range.

It is up to you, and your budget. Do your research, and look at what you think might suit you. My daughter prefers the "stick" form factor, so for Christmas I got her the Innokin VV v3 battery. I wanted something with a longer battery life for when my beloved NY Rangers get into the National Hockey League Stanley Cup Playoffs, so my daughter and her boyfriend got me an Innokin CoolFire IV for Christmas. My daughter's boyfriend wanted to "blow clouds", so I got him a Kanger Subox Mini starter kit for Christmas. All of us enjoyed our Evods, which are now our backups, and we are all enjoying our new hardware.

+1. A simple blister pack kit with an eGo style battery and disposable cartos will get you started enough to see if it's going to work. The problem is, it's not top quality and may well break. Even if it doesn't, most people move on to a better rig in very short order, so it's a sunk cost. Better gear would be an iStick 30 with a Nautilus tank. That's probably (slightly) outside your specified budget, but it's good stuff and not disposable. It will use any ejuice except max VG, and would be where I suggest you start. Welcome to the board.

im going to tag @djsvapour - he should be able to provide some insight here :)

Thanks @dcfluegel

Welcome @drugs bunny

£10 isn't going to do it. £25 to £30 is just about reaching the bottom of the 'decent' e-cig ladder.
For that, you could get a good old EVOD type e-cig or better still, something like this

KANGER SUBVOD KIT

or this

INNOKIN ENDURA T18 STARTER KIT

Now, you are TOTALLY right to not want to be tied into one of the 'big' vaping companies.

However - the expression "generic refills" scares me a bit. Refills of anything is going to be a) expensive and b) probably junk.

"Refills" is what tobacco companies want to sell you. Or Refills is another way of the already expensive rip-off brands taking you for some serious cash. Look up Vivid e-cigs. This is what you don't want to be buying.

You want a refillable tank e-cig, so that what I have linked to.

Please ask away. :)

Welcome to ECF, drugs bunny!

I agree that your are limiting your budget a bit too much. What worked for me was investing the same amount as I would for smokes for a 2 week period, about $120 USD. I figured that was actually not spending a penny more to try vaping if I could give it a 2 week "trial period." That got me two EVOD batteries and two tanks (research said get backups). The two bottles of juice (different flavors for each tank) was "my investment" and if it all worked out, that purchase should be good for a month putting me ahead of the cost effect. And in my mind, investing in the effort reinforced the interest in making it work.....and it did.

You've already gotten some good advice on gear, so good luck and make it work!

@djsvapour Thanks for the suggestions they both look great. I am leaning towards the kanger as it has a slightly bigger battery (1300 over 1k ma) and has a lower output of 0.5Ohms rather than the dual 1.5ohms of the innokin.

I just had a couple questions, are these vapes leak proof nowadays or do they need to stand upright? And is 0.5ohms enough to get a decent amount of vape?

Cheers and thanks for the input from everyone else

Check out the elaef basic its cheap, has great reviews, a battery that will last all day and is durable. The only thing is almost all tanks take said manufactures coils not really a way around it unless your willing to get into building.

I've heard the eleaf basic is a great kit for new vapors. It has enough power to provide a pleasant vaping experience, but it's very simple to use. When I began vaping if I had started out with a complicated device, I doubt I'd still be vaping. I know some experienced vapors who regularly sub-ohm vape, but love having an e leaf basic device to use at certain times. Plus they're extremely reasonably priced, at around $30 for the whole kit and caboodle.

Yeah I just realised the lower the ohm the more power or at least the battery doesn't last as long. I was gonna say i don't like the look of them but it's kinda growing on me and the 2300ma battery looks good. This very well be the one I get!

The Istick 30 watt IS a mod that is considered disposable , more capable than an Evod setup but disposable .

Priced right but not a mod that can be depended on to last years like a replaceable battery mod is though.

I hate to say this but you are not going to get a great vape in your price range. Close but not quite at 30 quid; maybe 50 to 75? This is my 3rd try at vaping and I can honestly say, as with most everything else, you get what you pay for.

If I had it all to do over again, I would get one these newer tanks, that also have a re-buildable deck along with offering the convenience of pre-made coils. A TFV4, Tobeco Super Tank, and the already mentioned Kanger; but there are probably a few others that can be recommended by experienced people here.

The beauty of the optional build deck is if you really want the flexibility of not depending on companies coils is you can eventually get into making your own. I wish you all the luck in the world with this new venture into the world of vaping!
