Are you taking about dark marks on the positive and/or negative ends? Reasonably normal if so, and you need to stay on top of it. A Q-tip barely wet with rubbing alcohol should be enough to clean it up if it hasn't gotten out of control.

This is common with tube mechs, especially ones with crappy connections, but can happen with any device, especially over time.

Is there any way you can take a pic of the discoloration? It would probably be helpful unless the situation is as stated above, in which case, yes you can clean the ends.

If it's discoloration on the wrap, it might be worth checking if any e-juice has gotten down into your mod, that will sometimes discolor wraps. If there are nicks and scratches in your wrap you may need to re-wrap it. It could be something simple or something more extensive, at which point you may need to do some stuff, or buy new batteries.

I'm not exactly sure what that is either, but it does look discolored. If you have any battery re-wraps (you can get them online, but also many vape shops sell them inexpensively) it might be worthwhile to rewrap it (you just cut to fit-- make sure you keep the end cap and replace it) and see if there's any residue of anything under the battery, which you can gently wash off prior to rewrapping it. I can't tell from the photo how extensive it is, but it may be worth doing just to be on the safe side-- there's nothing sticky in your mod, is there, or any evidence that juice may have leaked in somewhere? I might gently clean the positive and negative battery terminals too if it seems like there's any residue on them...

Good luck with it. Worst case you could take it to a knowledgeable vape shop if you have one and see what they think of it in person.

I wouldn't get overly concerned as that's discoloration of the wrap itself. You can rewrap it, which takes maybe 5 minutes. Just be sure to keep the white circle insulator and keep it on top when rewrapping. Also, always start at the negative/bottom side when peeling this one off.

Everybody has a different comfort level, but personally I would just use it unless you had actual battery issues (what type of mod are you using? if a mech I'd be faster to rewrap it)

This is one area of battery safety I don't know, but I think not knowing the cause might be some cause for concern.. what if it was caused by excessive heat? Is that a thing, discoloration on the wrapper due to heat?

Feel free to correct me here because I really don't know, I have never had a battery wrap do that before, and Ive been vaping years now - as such I would personally throw the battery away if I didn't know why.. but, I might be overcautious too..

Hi and welcome. I don't see anything there that would scare me. It does look like maybe you set it down on the table on a drop of water or juice or something. But so long as the wrap is still good, I don't see anything frightening. I'd use it, in other words (and there are very few people out there more paranoid about batteries than your humble servant.)

Welcome to the board.
