11 days without tobacco and counting. I was impatient to try e-cigs and bought the first thing I found in the stores which was Envy. While they do the job, they don't seem to be very good quality. I have to charge 3-4 times a day and didnt come with a 2nd battery. The carts last maybe a few hours. So after reading on here and watching some vids I bought the KR808D-1 and I'm crossing my fingers that this one is much better =) I did try to buy some liquid but it was pretty raunchy tasting and a waste of money. Going to have to find some other flavors that might work better. This one was supposed to be a tobacco / menthol mix but there is no mint/menthol in it at all...tobacco is bleh! I'm hoping to be able to add some menthol to it. Are there any reasons not to add a few drops? It won't hurt right?

Happy vaping,

Cassie

Hey Cassie...

Welcome to ECF!!! THat is SO wicked awesome you have been off the smokes for almost 2 weeks. What a great Christmas present to yourself...

I also bought the first ecig I could find and was not happy with it. I changed a few weeks after that. I am sure the one you bought will be more than enough for you right now. Now juice is kinda a WHOLE nother subject around here...LOL...When I quit about 5 months ago I was throughly conviced that I only wanted to vape tobaccoo flavors. As my taste and smell returned it was about the last thing I wanted. The great thing about ECF is there are so many choices for you to find what works for you. Almost all the reputable juice vendors will sell their juice in little sampler bottles so you can try a few before you commit to a large quantity. Oh yeah..and if you want to add menthol to something..no problem..most vendors will take care of that for you no problem..

Congrats on 11 days! I remember when going one day was a milestone, yet each day gets a little easier. :)

I doesn't deal much with menthol, but I'm sure someone here will let you know about that soon. There are some great juice vendors out there too. Don't let one bad bottle scare you away from that.

Most importantly, welcome!

Casie, firstly welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately, your final taste and nicotine level is something that you will have to experiment with, because everybody's taste is different to the next.

For instance, I used to smoke 1.5 pad mid-strength Dunhill virginia and I started by vaping all the tobacco flavours at 26mg. That was 7 months ago and now I find that I prefer the fruit flavoured juices and I've gone down to 18mg. Haven't desired a tobacco flavour for over 2 months.

Just to give you an idea of a person's desires and then the reality, read the following review (the best I've ever seen!):

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/e-liquid-reviews/144460-vaporrenu-bacon-caveat-emptor.html

Flavours just have to be worked through. Get small amounts from many suppliers to begin with and then decide which best suits you.

Hope this helps.

Welcome to the forums!! I'm glad you are sticking with vaping. I too started with a retail POS, but I returned to smoking analogs for a couple days before my next unit arrived. Stay strong and positive!!

I don't have experience with the 808, but many people here do -- and lots recommend it for first time vapers. I think you will be very pleased with it -- I moved onto a Blu (after my e-health retail fiasco), and then to a Joye 510 (another great start for new vapers) and the difference was night and day!

As for flavors -- you can definitely mix some menthol liquid with whatever you have. I didn't smoke menthols in my last 7 years of smoking, but menthol and mint flavors are probably among my favorites. Keep an eye on the suppliers forum here, and especially the Christmas sales forum -- you can find some great deals in there. And usually if a member finds a good deal, they'll post it somewhere too. There's a "general e-liquid discussion" where a lot of folks share their good (and not-so-good) fortunes. The vendors registered here generally have great products and outstanding customer service -- and you will do well by ordering from them. If you have any questions, please ask!!

congrats on 11 days!!!

LMFAO!!!
One of the choice lines from that review:

Overall score: F-, 0/10, terrible. Nothing can counterbalance the terrifyingly rank flavor
that exudes from this noxious sludge. Every time someone vapes this e-liquid, an angel loses
its wings and is cast into a sea of spoiled, burning bacon grease for all of eternity.

Awesome! Heh!

Welcome and congrats on making your way to the vaping scene.
There is a way to add menthol with crystals (either make yourself or get from a vendor)
There is menthol drops that you can buy from a vendor and add a drop as needed.
Both those methods take a little time to receive from a order.
In a pinch, if you can obtain some LorAnn's Flavoring-CremedeMenthe...and add a drop to your liquid BEFORE you put
in your cart, then that might get you buy until you can obtain the other.
LorAnns's might be found at Walmart or Hobby Lobby and a few other places
Right now my "menthol" is another menthol flavor that was not so great....took that bottle, added a couple drops of CremedeMenthe and a couple drops of cinnamon....and a couple drops of VG and is vaping great for me
Lots to learn but it is soooo great and soooo much better than the alternative.

I am also new to e-cigarettes. Started the first of the month. I found I liked the 555 flavor (kinda tobacco-y, kinda nutty -very yummy) from vapor 4 life enough to buy a bottle of liquid. Mostly, I've bought a bunch of variety packs of cartomizers from them and am figuring out what I like and don't like. The "tobacco" flavor from Smoke Tip (where I got my KR 808D starter kit from) is a little gnarly. It kinda tastes like the smell of a nicotine patch. I haven't even really wanted a regular cigarette since I got my kit, even with coffee or alcohol which are HUGE triggers for me and have been my downfall every other time I've quit. I didn't even really mean to quit when I bought the kit. I wanted to have it around for cold season... being a smoker and working at a homeless shelter, I am very susceptible to all kinds of coughs and colds. I thought it might be easier on my lungs than smoking and easier on my mental health than the patch...or the gum... or the lozenges, all of which I'd experimented with. Anyway, I donated my last few smokes to work and have been on the vapor ever since!
my absolute FAVORITE flavor cartomizer which I got as a sample with an order is rum & cola. Seriously, it tastes like a captain & coke! I bought a box of them. I can sneak a few puffs in my office between clients and it's like being out for drinks for a minute! YAY!

Wow! Thanks for the tips and welcomes. You all seem great =) I am impatiently awating my Kr8. This poor Envy is on the charger more than it's in my mouth, kinda sad. I think I am going to eventually order the DSE-901 atomizer & carts since they are supposed to be compatible. But I will have to see how the cartomizers work out for me first. I can't wait to try new flavors, I just know the tobacco flavor is nasty to me LOL

The Fool: I will contact you when I can send messages =) only on my second post so far. And thank you for the taste test offer, sounds great!

Cassie, I have had a DSE-901 since August... and I love it, but that is just my opinion..battery life is a little lacking but overall a good PV. As for the Menthol smoke juice.. I would suggest Halo Truepure. I don't often suggest a product or vendor, but my wife was a selective Menthol smoker as well. And this was the bomb for her. They offer it in small samples of 5ml or so for a couple of bucks. You may want to give it a try. Good Luck, and welcome to ECF.

I got my Kr8 and a 510 now and I think I am liking the Kr8 better. Isnt there supposed to be a way to convert the 510 with 910 part to use cartomizers? err or something to that effect? I think I prefer them to the atomizer/cartridges separate.

I am also learning really fast that some juice flavors can just about make you puke LOL and some are wonderful! It's all trial and error I guess.

Still analog free and don't care to go back!

Hi Cassie, and welcome to ECF and the world of vaping. Congrats on your days of being smoke-free, we are about at the same point.

One thing I do wish about the vendors - I wish they wouldn't market their flavors with names similar (or even flat out the same) as cigarette brands. I think it's pretty misleading, especially to new vapers. You buy the product expecting it to be *just like* the real McCoy and sorry - it just isn't gonna happen. It might be *close*, but there's still no juice out there that will taste exactly like "your" brand of cigarettes. As we get a little more experienced in vaping, and have tried a few flavors, we learn that - but new vapers might spend a lot of money just buying juices because of their "name".

Anyway, I hope you find that perfect flavor for you, as I have found mine (a couple actually).

I've been mixing and it hasn't hurt anything. The menthol flavor I got is too much menthol by itself, so I put in about 50% of something else to cut it down, and it works great. I didn't smoke menthol analogs, so I'm not fixed on that flavor, it just gives me a nice cool vapor that I like in the e-cig.

You can get adapters to go from almost anything to almost anything, most suppliers have them:
PV Adapters

It's all trial and error,:laugh:, you've discovered the secret of vaping!!
Everyone's taste and habit and nicotine level and "triggers" for analogs and warmth
of vapor and....... is different, then combine the different permutations of the variables
and it's endless combinations. But when you find your "sweet spot" it's GREAT
