Hello everyone!

I'm so glad I found this site! I have so many questions but I will hold off until I feel that i have really read through a lot of the other posts since i'm sure most of my questions have been answered time and time again. :)

I'm 29 yrs old and I've been an analog smoker (lol, love the term) since I was in highschool. I've quit a few times with various success but i come right back to those darn cigarettes. I am really going to give my all with this e-smoking since I think I'll really love it and it will help me stay off the bad cigs.

I've been a 1/2 a pack a day smoker (or a little more) for the past few years. Having watched the results of my grandmothers smoking for 40+ years i knew I needed to quit tobacco, but i just loved smoking so much that I haven't had the willpower to give it up.

I've ordered two different types of "personal vaporizors" from two different companies. The mini cigarette from smartfixx.com and the 2 piece kit from red dragon (vanilla flavor) to compare and see what i like. I ordered medium strength nicotine since i didn't think i'd get as much nicotine as from an analog, but after reading some posts on this board I might have to step down the dosage to light since i smoke about once an hour or so.

The red dragon appeals to me more because the cartridge and atomizer is in 1 and is replaced everytime, and i think that would be easier for a first time e-cig user.

The smart fix mini cigarette appealed to me for the longer battery life, the fact that it's black and hopefully won't be mistaken for an analog and the cost of the catridge replacements are cheaper.

I hope to quickly get the hang of refilling my own carts and taking care of my own equipment. I figure I spend about $65-70 every 2-3 weeks on analog. I hope that I can cut my costs with e-cigs after I have found the equipment that i like best. I've started to get an idea about how the liquids are used but am not sure if I'll try refilling my own for the first few months.

What I'd really love is to see if there are any e-cig people or groups in my area (Seattle, WA) who might be willing to show me tips and tricks since I learn much better from doing then reading. But I also look forward to feedback and advice from fellow e-smokers on this forum.

Thanks All!

well I got my first order from smartfixx.com. I originally ordered the super mini, then after reading some reviews decided to call and change my order to a mini. Well i think they still sent me the super mini. I'll try it for the 30 days and see if it's for me.

I like that it looks like an analog so I might not get as many stares at work in the smoking area. But since I've told most of them about what I was doing they all want to know how I like vaping (you may get some more members soon!)

The tobacco taste is..interesting. almost a caramel flavor but not strong. I can definatly tell this will take some getting used to. I get decent vapor but no bite and actually had to vape in front of my bathroom mirror to make sure the end was lighting up and that there was "smoke" in my mouth before inhaling. I can barely smell the "tobacco" flavoring it in the vape I exhale. Even hubby said he had to be real close and it wasn't really strong. He's already approved me for vaping inside yay!

I look forward to comparing this with the red dragon mini with vanila flavor. I think i'm going to have to end up getting a pen style for longer battery life since I don't want to be tied to a charger all the time. I'd love to be able to charge just once at night and be able to carry my ecig around all day.

After reading all the priming and dragging methods on here I think I am doing it right for the most part. Now it's just time and practise to perfect it. It definatly does NOT feel like smoking an analog. the vape is not as hot, I didn't get a significant throat/lung bite but i'm pretty sure I got more than the usual nic dose since I am ever so slightly light headed(i use med strength but am a light strength analog smoker). It may be all the testing I was doing, probably smoking the equiv of 2 analogs at once.

I'm going to wait a few more hours before trying again. I'm not sure I'm ready to juice quite yet. But once my initial carts are gone I may try to refill with a different flavor. Vanilla and Cherry both apeal to me greatly as I like sweet things. I'd also LOVE to find a clove juice.

I really am hoping that once I get the knack and invest in the right hardware for me that vaping will be less expencive and more enjoyable then analog smoking. I think I might want to invest in a pen style, but that will have to wait for a month or so.

Ugh.

Today was not so great. I don't think the super mini is going to fit my needs and I am a little frustrated. The super mini does not feel like it gives me enough vapor to be satisfied. the carts don't feel like they last very long and don't taste very good. There is a lot of talk about how e-cigs are so much cheaper then buying analogs but so far it feels like a big waste of money to find what I need. Convienence factor is going to play a big part on my successful swich to e-cigs.

I am thinking of trying a pen style. I want something that I don't have to change the cart every day (or several times a day). I want more vapor, longer battery life and I want something a little easier to get a good puff off of. I want to find a good US supplier for both vanilla and clove e-liquid. I am willing to spend a moderate amount but want quality products and a company that is easy and reliable to deal with.

Can anyone help?

-What would be the best models of the pen style that is easier for newbies.
-Where can i find pre mixed e-liquid for clove and vanilla flavors (other fun flavors a plus)

Hi Murphy,

I started vaping in March with the supermini (RN4081--the PeeWee & and an NPro)--and I've found that refilling the carts was the key to the experience for me. Lots of people don't like the supermini, but you might want to order some juice and see if refilling or "topping off' makes the difference for you.

There's a section in Reviews devoted to e-liquid. Everybody's tastes are different, so it's hard to recommend a particular brand. Personally, I like the vanilla from both Janty and e-smokeytreats. Haven't tried the clove (although I think Johnson's Creek makes clove and I like their liquid, too).

Don't give up yet! The liquid makes a HUGE difference, and there are lots of good choices out there. You might want to think about getting a pass-through, too, for when you'll be in one place--lots of vapor and an easier draw. :)

The DSE901 is a great place for you to start. Personally I use the KISSBOX from Janty and thats a DES801. From what I hear the difference is the DES901 has a larger cart and a longer battery life. I woke up at 10:30am, put in my first cart. Have been using it pretty steadily since then and it is now 6pm. I am normally a 1 pack smoker per day for your reference. I can say I like the experience, there are things lacking from an analog that I can't quite place my finger on what that is. (Probably go buy a pack to test it out) From what I read in the forums, it is still a toss up to try to find a pre-mixed clove flavor, but there are lots of places get a vanilla pre mixed. Hopes this helps.

I'm seeing a lof of model numbers but I don't exacly know what they mean or where to get them.

Is a DSE901 the black pen style? Is everyone who sells a pen style sells this type?

I plan on juicing with different flavors since I think that's what's going to sell me on vaping over analog smoking. I prefer pre mixed e-juice since I'm pretty sure I would mix the ingrediants right (i never even took chemistry in high school  )

And forgive my noobness but what is a pass through? I am more concerned about vaping when I am out and about or at work. so portability and reliability are key.

Hi Murphy and welcome! Re: Carts...it all depends on the size of the cart (801s, i.e., penstyle, are the biggest) and how much you vape. If you vape very little, an 801 cart might last you all day. You can get a penstyle and e-liquid for any number of US suppliers. I suggest you check the suppliers' forums and read the threads to find one (or 2 or 3 lol) that appeals to you.

And by all means...DON'T GIVE UP!! There is a definite learning curve in figuring out what model/flavor/etc. is best for you. Watch some videos available here on the forum (and also you tube) and read the various reviews. Then...it's basically a crap shot LOL. But you will find the more you use your ecig the easier it becomes. Also, it can run into some money in the beginning. But once you settle on your ecig/eliquid, the costs will decrease.

Well my roommate also gives the thumbs down on the smartfix super-mini. I'm letting 1 other coworker try it before either sending it back or reselling it locally at a reduced cost. (P.S. anyone in the Seattle WA area who is looking for a super mini, used for 4 days at a reduced cost please contact me via a private msg)

I did however get a mini from Red dragon and really like it! I got Vanilla flavor med strength. the vaper is good and the vanilla tastes/smells nice with just a slight throat hit. I like the little rubberized mouth piece over the hard plastic one. I vaped it for most of last night and am trying to only vape on it today. My only concerns with this brand is the cart and the atomizer are one piece. So I don't think they can be cleaned/filled (if anyone has experience filling please let me know!). They sell replacement carts 4 for $12 +shipping.

I smoked a pack of analog every 2 days (approx). I figure if 1 cart can last me two days (or even a day and a half) I still should be saving money over analogs.
Heck even if I smoked a cart a day. $12 is better then $14+ in analogs (not to mention all the other benefits)

At work I limit my vaping to outside with the other analoggers, about once an hour or sometimes a little more. I might keep the red dragon and use it as my "descrete e-cig". As soon as I get money in my account I am purchasing a Janty Classic KISSBOX and the JantyStick with some e-liquid (I wish Janty sold Vanilla e-liquid though).

Thanks RahRee! As soon as I get some liquid I'll be filling my carts.

Oh and my coworker loves my supermini from smartfixx.com. So I am selling to her at a discount since she is saving me time and money by not having to return it and take a hit of restock fees and shipping. I reffered her to this site and will hopefully be sharing all my tips and tricks I learn here with her. She's much more of a social work smoker (now Vaper!) and she really likes being able to not use analogs when she wants a nic fix.

Welcome Murphy. The DSE801,BE112, RN4072 are all the same thing. That's what I vape and love it. Carts and batts last much longer. The better equip you have and the more you like it have a lot to do with your success in quitting analogs. You really should try. I smoked for 36 years and trust me, you do not want to do that. This is your chance to quit. Take it and run with it. Good luck!

So after 2 different brands of the super mini (1 from smartfixx and 1 from reddragon) I ordered a kissbox and a janty stick and I LOVE THEM. My only regret is that I got a Janty stick automatic instead of a manual. I was going to order another but I decided not to untill I sell off some of my old equipment (anyone interested? pm me!)

I ordered 2 eliquids with my kissbox and due to one of them being substituted for a lower strength I was given a bunch of extras! At first I was dissapointed since I thought they would throw in some nasty flavor as an "extra" but I got 4 GREAT flavors. I ordered clove and cherry and got vanilla, chocolate, strawberry & apple as extras.

I think so far I love the drip method on the kissbox using the manual switch. At first I was afraid of manual but it gives you that control of a perfect vape every time and I love that. The classic kissbox doesn't have an led at the end which at first I was a little bummed, but it makes it so much easier to stealth a vape. I feel very sophisticated using the kiss box, although sometime I imagine I am the catepiller from Alice in wonderland smoking a hooka. "Who R U?" LOL:lol:

I haven't had an analog in 3 days and I can already tell the difference in my breathing. My nose which has always been stuffed up or drippy in clear!! MY roommate loves the kissbox too so I think I might have to buy her one.
