Hello, I have been a fan of this website, and have been visiting here since considering to switch to E-cigarettes.

I was/am a HEAVY smoker (almost three packs of full flavor a day)...

I am wondering if I made a mistake. I was quick to get started in making the switch to ecigs and purchased a SE starter kit (yes, I know I know). I must say that when I had problems with components the salesman at the kiosk was patient with me... I wasn't getting any vape and figured out for myself that half the carts were dry. I didn't like the fact I had to draw so heavy to get anything from the product. Found some interesting how-tos in refilling my carts and can't wait to get the juice to do it. I was really upset to learn that these carts don't equal a pack of cigs...or even half a pack in my estimation (an analog being about 15-16 puffs for me).

I haven't given up yet and purchased the DSE801 from vaporkings, and can't wait for it to get here.

Jeez, I hope I didn't make a mistake in trying this...low on funds and have to make a go of this...can't really afford to buy more anologs this month. lol

Hi, Von. I'm brand new to this, too. I bought an M420 starter kit and a bottle of menthol flavoring from sharpsmoker.com. The service was great, shipped within 12 hours and arrived two days later. But I'm disappointed in the flavor and 'feel' of the ecigs.

I've found that although I still prefer my analogs, they don't taste as good as they used to, either, after only a couple of days.

Like you, I'm not giving up yet. I've ordered two more starter kits, a KR808D-1 and a 510. Along with several flavors of juice from different vendors. Hoping it's just the juice I bought or the M402 itself.

Welcome! The 801 is a good solid vapor machine with the largest cart and good battery life,Just be aware that auto batteries are prone to juice flooding and certain death:( Get manual batteries if you can.
Good luck:D

Yes, I have read that the 801 is a good vape producer...wish I had gone that route first. Any way to avoid the juice flooding?

For my limited budget it is starting to get more expensive than my analog habit (I usually spend about 210.00 a month on my analogs).

My wife is kind of suspicious...anyway, if the dagone things would vape and produce like advertised I could probably get away from the nasty analogs. BTW- I do think that e-cigs are a viable option for light smokers...I am not so sure if it is such a good option for heavy smokers...I drag constantly on regular cigs...you can't do that with the e's apparently.

I went to sharpsmoker and looked at the "cost of e-cigs" and this qoute seems to be little closer to the truth than then notion of "one cart equals a pack of cigs nonsense" :

COST OF SMOKING THE ELECTRONIC CIGARETTE

2 Nicotine Cartridges for the Electronic Cigarette is equal to one pack of regular tobacco cigarettes

2 Cartridges (1 pack a day) = $60 per month / $730 per year
4 Cartridges (2 packs a day) = $120 per month / $1460 per year
6 Cartridges (3 packs a day) = $180 per month / $2190 per year

Shelor and Von, E-cigs are definately the way to go but you have to really WANT to quit for it to work. A lof of it is in your head, the e-cigs substitute the biggest part of that, the hand to mouth thing.

But try using a higher MG nicotine. I had to start with 36mg to get the edge off. I mean I woul crave a regular cigarette and I would vape a 18mg cart and I would still want a regular cig. If I vaped a 36 or 24mg, the feeling went away.

Also, you have to finish your analogs.. if you have them, you will smoke them. Finish em up and dont buy no more. Just keep your batteries charged and your e-liquid available. You wont be sorry.

Good luck to the both of you.

I am not trying to totally quit per se, but to switch to ecigs. I doubt seriously I can quit altogether.

I was thinking about going to a higher dose of nicotine, and perhaps that will help. Thanks for the advice.

Thanks, Ragman. I do want to give up the tobacco smokes, and you are right on about the habit being the big thing.
I do think that either the e-cig (darn my typo, 402 not 420 LOL) or the flavor I bought is not what I need. And you may be right about the nic level. What I have is 11mg. I've ordered some higher concentrations, so we'll see how it goes.

Von, I agree that the cost/savings estimate you quoted are closed to reality. I'm a pack-a-day or less smoker, where my brand only costs about $4 per pack. I've already spent enough on e-cigs and accessories to have kept me in the tobacco ones for a couple of months. But honestly, I don't really care as much about saving money as I do about getting healthier.

Tobacco flavor with e-cigs is relative. I mean Ive been looking for a couple months now for the closest to analog taste. Havent found it. Try higher nic and mix some vanilla with a tobacco... you might like it. Different and not like a cig but if the mg is high enough, it might be a tasteful way to kick the habit. ENjoy.

I'm also still new at vaping but I have to say you've got to give it a chance. 1-2 packs a day for 36+ years and I haven't touched an analog since I took my very first vape last Wednesday morning at 11:30 a.m.

I really don't think that it's accurate to say that one cart is equal to one pack of analogs - or either more or less. It all depends on how much "satisfaction" you get from your particular e-cigiarette, the strength of your carts in mg of nicotine, how fresh your cart is, the state of charge on your battery, etc. My starter kit from SmokeTip.com came with 16mg cartomizers (mine is the KR808D-1 model) and I've found that one cart does not last me all day, more like a cart and a half. So much of smoking cigs is a lot of habit, but with my e-cig I conciously think about whether I really need a nicotine fix before I vape. And as someone else has already mentioned, you never really know how full or not full your new carts may be. I'm going to start refilling my own so I know they'll be full from the start.

Another big part of vaping (for me anyways) is that I'm trying to train my brain to accept vaping as satisfying my need for nicotine. My e-cigs don't taste like the ultra-lights I had been smoking, but more like a Swisher Sweet mini-cigar. I've ordered some different flavors e-juice at 16mg strength which seems to be just right for me.

If I get the urge, I grab my e-cig and vape. Personally, I don't care if I go through 3 carts a day - I am no longer poisoning my body with more than 4,000 chemicals, a lot of which are cancer causing and many more harmful things. Today is only my 4th full day, but I am super-satisfied with what I have done for myself, and really do enjoy my vaping experience.

Good Luck!

Steve

This happens when you overfill the cart or drip too many drops when you aren't using the normal cart, one without the poly fill. Before you drip without using the normal poly filled cart blow out the atty first then drip 2 or 3 drops and vape, when you have reduced vapor use 2 more drops. when filling a normal cart don't pool the liquid on the top of the poly filling. Good luck!

I was/am a HEAVY smoker (almost three packs of full flavor a day)...

I haven't given up yet and purchased the DSE801 from vaporkings, and can't wait for it to get here.

Like you, HEAVY smoker for almost 50 years. Started way too young. What I did was order 1 Gamucci disposable e-cig to see what it was all about. Was interesting, but nothing to write home about. Then researched, researched, researched. Spent a lot of time on YouTube watching review videos.

Started out with the big gun, DSE801. First week while fiddling with it (yeah, there is a learning curve) I went from 2 packs/day to 1 pack for the entire week. Day 8: I quit altogether. I was shocked. Totally effortless and painless for me. Who would have thunk... ;) Friends and family still can't believe I actually quit analogs. I have a hard time believing it myself.

Thoughts: Had I started out with a smaller model like the M401, that I got later on, I don't think it would have been quite as easy to quit. Too wimpy for me, a heavy smoker. The 801 with with a manual bat and a 4-hole low bridge atty is a vapor machine. (I get mine from East Mall.) And I have to have a lot of vapor or I'm not happy. Then you fiddle with different juices to get the right throat hit and nic strength. I started out at 36 mg and have now stepped down to 12 mg - 18 mg.

When you start vaping you kinda look for an e-cig that looks like an analog. And you want it to be white. Then when you get into vaping you realize the ones that do look the most like a real cigarette are the ones that will satisfy you the least. And you definitely want it to taste like a cigarette not some fruity or or other "weird" flavor, but this too will change as your journey progresses and your taste buds slowly come back to life.

You will find yourself sucking on your e-cig constantly in the beginning. It becomes an appenadge... and a security blanket. But over time I found I could put it down for longer periods of time. And it becomes a hobby. A consuming passion. What model to try next? What new juice to try out? I think my next e-cig will be a mod! :D

The journey continues...

Heavy smoker here as well: 2-2 1/2 packs (40-50 cigs) a day, smoking for 42 years. From the the first day I got my kit, I have smoked 4-5 cigs a day. I ran out yesterday and had only 1 cigarette. I am sitting here with no tobacco back-up, an absolute first for me.

Sometimes I vape a lot, and sometimes not- it's almost like I forget (for a little bit). I did not have any real intention of quitting cigarettes altogether, but it may happen. Just get a nic level that is right for you and always have a couple of e-cigs charged up.

I thought I'd only want a tobacco flavor, but here I am now ordering Pomegranate and Pina Colada, lol. Vaping can really set us free in many ways, eliminate some of the limitations we've had, and offer us so many pleasant choices.

I just got the DSE-801 today and it exceeded my expectations! I haven't had one analog since vaping on it! I couldn't say that for the SE. You hardly have to draw on the 801...I mean jeez, I AM SO IMPRESSED!

Franky (and this is MO) The Smoking Everywhere product will NOT satisfy most newbies--especially the heavy anolog smoking newbies out there.
