New here, looking for some advice

Hi all,
Hoping some of you fine ppl can help me out a bit. I'm 55 and been smoking since I was 13. 2+ packs a day, Marlboro reds 100's no less. I know, *cough*. I'm trying to find an ecig that easy to use and would fill my nicotine needs. I bought a Prado (I've since seen the SPARKLING reviews on those lol) they don't work well and those filter looking refills they give you run out way too quick. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I confess that reading some of the forums on here is like trying to read Greek lol. Thx a bunch, Liam

Hi and welcome to ecf.
For a heavy smoke(such as I was) I found the the eGo had the right stuff for me...
Look here for a start....
They have an Mega T-Rex kit for $39.99 and it comes with the cartos, you would have to buy the wall charger separate,...also on their site.
But this is an awesome company,,,good cs and prices and cheap shipping ....here is a link for 20% off, be sure it shows up.
20% off your whole order!

:)
let us know and ask more questions if you want.

After quite a few different e-cigs & mods, my favorite ecig is Volcano Inferno(not InfernoT). The kit gives you what you need to start. Also for E juice, take a look at Halo ecigs. I think you can find a tobacco liquid that will tast good to you. Also I recommend Cartomizers over carts/attys.

Best wishes and welcome to ECF!! Ask away!

Lol I agree with the last statement I'm like what? On some of the threads. The first question for you would be are looks important to you, do you want something that resembles a cig or would you like a biggrt batt like an ego or mod?

Looks really don't matter too much, effectiveness for a heavy smoker would be the thing I need the most I guess.

I agree with the suggestion of a Riva from Liberty Flights as a good "beginner" PV (personal vaporizer). Another similar and good option is the GO-GO from nhaler.com which is another well respected supplier.

I would strongly advise, based on your past smoking use, (I also smoked marlboro) to get 24mg nicotine level eliquid. Too many new vapers start out too low in the nic level and struggle to make the transition. Also, don't feel you have to quit completely the first day with a PV. I reduced down to 8 from a pack and a half the first day and quite completely a little over a month later. Many do quit completely the first day, however.

The eliquid closes to Marlboro that I have found is Liberty Flights "Home Counties", 24mg - PG.

Good Luck

PS: if you find after several months you want more consistency, battery life and "inhaled feel" of a cigarette (analog) check out some of the better variable volt PV's such as the Darwin or Provari.

Welcome Fripton! I see you are in FL. We have a Fl Forum here at the ECF and also have some get togethers in certain areas. Check us out here. Introduce yourself and possibly find a group getting together soon that you might could attend to see a few different e-cigs first hand. I am close to Jacksonville.

ETA: Here is one coming up right around the corner.

the cone gives a little tighter(and IMHO better draw)...it also gives a sleek look to your unit. i have the riva and love it. if you want a very low maintenance set-up, i would suggest the 15 carto deal at crystal clear vaping (boge cartos) to go along with the riva. i am really liking my bloog maxx fusion as well(looks more like a real cig) but the battery lasts about 2 hours less on it.

EDIT: the cone comes with the kit.

What do you want your first one to look like? If you want slim and don't mind short battery life then look at

figuring 100 mah is 1 hour for a moderate vaper

Joye 510, 180mah battery charge
Joye 510 w/ mega xl batteries, 280mah battery charge
KR808D-1 and Vapor4Life.com, standard battery is 280mah battery charge

then there are the fat battery models like Ego and Riva 510 and T-Rex etc which are 650-1300mah and can also optionally use hotter harder hitting LR (low resistance) parts

Based on how and what you smoke, you will most likely be quite frustrated with any of the small battery models with mAh ratings of 280 or less. You would be lucky to get a half hour of OK vaping. As the battery drains on those models (quite quickly) the performance diminishes very quickly. And the term "fat" battery is very misleading. The Riva or GO-GO is the size of a slim cigar and smaller than a regular cigar.

Welcome!
There are a few things that I have learned is that you want to spend as little as possible for the long run.
What I mean is if you end up purchasing a smaller battery and some of the cartos out there you end up spending a considerable amount of time and coordinating/scheduling battery charging, carto filling, etc. Then you end up buying a larger battery and bigger cartos(Cartomizers). It may seem a little less expensive to go with the cigarette lookalike PV but you end up spending a lot more to upgrade.

Do some research and read info on terminology. Spend a little more now to save you a lot more later. Realize that no juice will give you the same flavor as the cancer stiks. Be patient with yourself and the process. Don't beat yourself up if you do break down and suck down an analog. It won't taste that great anyways.
Buy things PVs that are compatible with other vendors/parts, i.e. stick with 510s.

My best suggestion is purchase an ego type 510 battery kit(higher mAh batteries so as not to have to worry about running out of power too soon). Buy some of the clearomizers 510 XL( you will need a syringe, 3ml to fill). Buy a mix of juice flavors in the highest strength they offer in smaller quantities(5-10ml). The cone atomizers are fine for tanks but stick with regular atomizers and the cone that is just a cover not an atomizer, and use the atomizers that come with the unit and the clearomizers for two different vaping options. Keep it simple at first, quitting the smoke sticks can be daunting enough let alone having to worry about battery life and if you have enough cartomizers filled.

READ READ READ! There are a lot of terms that can get confusing in a hurry so again, keep it simple. Learn all about the ONE type of PV that you are getting and make it happen.
Good luck and keep us all posted.

Thx for ALL the wonderful advice, you guys are fantastic! I went with the Silver T-Rex model cause I wanted the bigger battery size hopefully I made a good choice, time will tell. I used that 20% off coupon, thx Sugar :) Don't want to keep being a pest but can anyone tell me if I'll need anything else w/the kit? Are the cartos the refills for it? I feel so stupid but the only experience I have is with the Prado and all you do w/that is put a new filter looking thing on it. Just really need to know what I need to stock up on for the long haul. Thx again everyone you've all been extremely patient and helpful with this noob.

Are the Cartos filled with Juice? Even if they are, you might want to think about getting yourself some juice you might like. I agree the 24 mg is probably what you will need, there are lots of excellent juices out there. Good luck on getting away from the cigs! I also started smoking at about 13 and I'm in my 50s now. It took me 2 weeks to finish my last pack of cigs when I got my PV, and haven't had one since. Just remember, don't beat yourself up if it doesn't happen immediately, it can take some time. Be happy for each cig you don't smoke, and remember that there is an entire forum full of great people who are rooting for you.

I would recommend the IGo because it has a less airy draw than the GoGo. Both types are sold by NHaler. I would second the recommendation that you start with e-juice of at least 24mg - and don't be afraid to go to 36mg if that's what you need to kill the cravings. Good Luck!

Edited to add: Oops! I see now that you already chose an ecig and I think you'll be so happy when you see how easy it is to quit smoking with a good ecig!

Here's what the kit came with:
2x 1100mAh Batteries
1x 510 Atomizer
1x LR 510 Atomizer
2x Atomizer Cones
5x Cartridges
1x USB charger
1x Liberty Flights Zippered Carry Case
1x User Manual
Think I need to look for some juice maybe. If I get juice do I need a driptip or syringes to refill the cartos? Maybe I need to recheck the stickies and see if there's any FAQ's on there that would fill me in on what all the parts are and how these things all work <smacks head>
