Hi, I'm Mimi. Not so new to vaping, but new to forums. Surprisingly, I'm not too big on social media, or communicating through electronics, but I wanted to do it for vaping!

Anyway. Mostly, I'm wondering: anybody rebuild? I've tried a few premade claptons (not as good as I expected), and I'm not sure where to go from here. I can do basic wraps with my 24g, but thats about it. Once I attempt a parallel I start to short out, and I'm not sure why.

I'll appreciate any help ^_^

Welcome! I think it is pretty late or pretty early. I have also done the pre-makes and am happy with just single cooling a 26 or 28. Hopefully, someone will be along.

if you are interested in claptons, you might want to take a look at the 'fishing swivel method' for making claptons and fused claptons - initially, i swore i had no interest in messin with that crazy clapton makin' stuff, but the fishing swivel method makes it pretty easy... recently made some SS claptons (using SS316 wire - 26g core, 32g wrap) and have em on a couple rda's, including a pair of verticals in my steam crave aromamizer



i am by no means an expert builder, but have had pretty consistently good results

Hiya Mimi! Yes, there are a LOT of us on here that wrap our own coils. I've been vaping for a bit over 6 years now and wrapping coils for a couple of them now as well. I've tried the fancy twisted, clapton, dragon nano, and quite a few others... I finally settled on just straight up dual coils with single wires for most of my set-ups. Not sure where you're having the problem. Are you trying to do dual coils (in parallel) or a sleeper parallel coil (these can be a little trickier)?

Do you have an ohm reader? What mod/atty are you using? Just curious is your parallel attempt shorting at the coil or is it shorting to the cap or what? The one thing that I can tell you is: there is a solution. In essence, building coils is actually pretty straightforward... there isn't a very long list of what the problem could be.

Hi Mimi! Welcome to ECF, glad you found us! If you would care to build a parallel, and snap a pic if it gives you any problems, I am sure some of these fabulous folks can tell you where you can improve your results! If you are wrapping ANY coils, EVERY coil is very close to your mastering!

Alot of us rebuild.

Tell us more about your parallels shorting.
When you add a second coil in parallel you half the ohms.

oh; you mean like wrapping 2 wires like if it's one wire;

give more details;
my guess- use thinner wire.

Hi and welcome. just guessing, you are shorting to the barrel/top cap. That's usually the problem. That means make shorter coils and/or install them closer to the posts. Some more info would be helpful for us to try to help you. Welcome to the board.
