Hi all,

I am new here, and I was looking for some suggestions on some nice mechanical mods. Right now I am running a Legacy and a Tree of Life, both of which are nice, but the Legacy stutters pretty often, and the Tree of Life has the magnetic button and chooses when it feels like firing. While I know that this is mostly normal for mechanical mods to be a little wonky, these seem to be far more than normal..

Thanks!!

Are you mechanically/electrically inclined?

If so the stutters and non fires are usually the button fit and finish. Disassemble the button taking note of which parts rub together. I used emery cloth super fine. Basically "soft" sand paper and rounded sharp edges that were catching at the point of contact. Keep in mind I am suggesting removing barely measurable amounts of material. I used an ice pick with Emory cloth on the tip and made maybe 5 swipes around the sharp edges. It doesn't take much. The button now fires every time. I also learned enough about the switches to grab stronger magnets. Now my Stingray clone won't fire unlocked even with a full Kayfun 3.1 with SS tank. Which are really heavy. Anyway every mass produced mech will have burrs on milled edges. If you don't want to spend the money on a custom mod, you can always learn to Improve what you have.

I am sort of mechanically inclined. I have tried cleaning them, but I will give that a shot too, because I am probably just not cleaning them quite enough. I may just move to a provari if this doesn't clear up, but I really love my mechanical mods.

Cleaning is not exactly what I am talking about. Ok given you already understand how the buttons work... The switch makes "contact" with conductive button bottom piece. That gap between fire and no fire has edges the must slide on each other to make firm contact. Rounding them or even just removing burrs makes the button more smooth. Come to think of it if your button has copper or other soft metal contacts you could use the shaft of a small screw driver instead of emery cloth.

Okay, that makes sense, I will give that a shot. Thanks!
