Hello all!
I'm Barbara, I'm new here. I want to thank all of you for your contributions to these forums -- like most noobs, I've been lurking for a while. I've learned a LOT. Thank you!

Briefly about me - I'm from Colorado, and I haven't had a cigarette since Beltane, which is awesome and amazing, and totally due to nic salts and my Suorin Edge.

As I was reading here in this forum, I found myself wondering: What percentage of vapers are former cigarette smokers?

Thanks again for your forum, and for all the thoughtful posts.

Hey. Smoker. Most of my life. I would like to think the number is high. What kind of a dip.... would start vaping without being a former smoker? Isn't that the point? Vaping shouldn't be rarefactional. If you're not already addicted don't get addicted. But, maybe that's just me. Good luck, Barbara.
Thank you! And, "rarefactional" is my new word for the day. :) After 35 years of smoking cigarettes, I'm ready to be HERE! :)

I don't know the numbers but I think the vast majority of vapers are former smokers. Especially when you get past the age of like 25

I'd agree there's an age divide. Past 25 or so, most are former smokers. Many of the younger ones were never steady smokers, although a lot of them have tried it as well. They're just remarkably unwise youth - much like I was back when I made the idiotic decision to take up cigarettes.:(

I don't judge new members that vape but not because they are (or have) quit smoking. There is nothing wrong with vaping just because you like it (and even vaping nicotine... within reason) I (we) do get annoyed with young people that come on here and say they want to get a "buzz" on nic (and have never smoked) and doing 30-50 mg nic.... that's just messed up. It does seem to be the young ones that do that. Anyway, I agree that most of us here have smoked in the past. I am very ashamed to admit I have taken up smoking again after quitting (and vaping) for months (that's another story) but I still love vaping and hope to give up the nasties (again) soon. Did I forget to say "Hello and welcome!" (almost 60 and my memory is slipping) Please tell us about your vaping preferences.

Welcome to ECF

ECF NEW MEMBERS WELCOME..jpg

Now 36, started smoking when I was 11.

Haven't had a cig in 10 days! But getting chest pains from the nic salts... Can't frigging win!

Have you tried Freebase instead of nic salts?

About chest pains i found this on an article, might be of help:

Chest pain from vaping
There could be various reasons for chest pain from vaping. Excessive heat, high nicotine, or maybe even the specific flavorings in a particular e-liquid could be the cause. Some users on vaping forums have stated that (fiery) cinnamon liquids containing the flavoring chemical cinnamaldehyde give them chest pain. Whatever the cause, chest pain is not an insignificant matter and could be a sign of a more serious health issue. If you’re experiencing chest pain and it appears to be a result of what you’re vaping, lower the power of your device, reduce your nicotine, change your atomizer or coil, or change your flavor. Essentially, try and change your entire set up if you have to! If that doesn’t clear it up, make an appointment with your doctor.

Personally i never experienced that but maybe someone else has some info they can share.

cheers

Doesn't really need to be a big mod.
You do have some smaller ones like the Vaporesso Swag II,Geekvape Aegis Solo 100w are just a couple i can name off the top of my head.

I'm thinking it could be the excess of nic,how about dropping it a bit?
Not much right away, maybe in small increments, like 12 to 10,10 to 8 etc etc.

Maybe someone else can offer some insights,im kinda newish well to be honest I'm not that much into the techy techy side of vaping,so my advice is limited.

Welcome!!! Very heavy smoker at the end for several years, smoked for 14 years. Ages 12-26. I found what worked for me, and here and there I evolved a bit, but have largely unchanged my style. "Tootlepuffing" my mtl RTAs at low wattage, high nicotine juice. Been vaping for over 7 years now and haven't looked back, and I believe it's largely due to this forum(and finding and using good gear, which this forum was also instrumental in doing so). I've found so much good information, found some comrades, found some friends.. hope you stay a while and keep on with the vaping. we are all more than willing to help and guide people.

Merry met lady, ...

I smoked anywhere from a half to full pack daily for roughly thirty five to thirty seven years. I used commercial & non-commercial tobacco in all various forms for roughly forty of my forty eight years. My own Lady, a witch herself convinced me to vape. Her reasoning?

"I might want you staying around longer."

Though we're both aware that it's unlikely I'll die again any time soon. If so someone will need to come find my furry .... to let me know. I'll be too busy tending her wants as the loyal pup I am. :)
