Hey! I started vaping a few years ago with the NJoy - unfortunately I found it to be very inconsistent in practice and only occasionally ever got a decent hit on it. The cartridges were also very expensive and didn't really save me a dime over analog cigs. I was happy to find that since then many new ecig models have come out, and received a Joye eGo for Christmas along with a sampler of eliquids from VS - just two days into it, I am already quite comfortable with dripping, and am finally seeing the potential of this to eventually replace analogs!

I have found the learning curve to be curiously steep - and this is coming from a computer programmer! I had to spend several days researching just to have a clear idea of what is available and where to get it...there are still some things that mystify me, such as "steeping", VG/PG ratios, etc., but I am sure things will become clearer as I lurk around! Anyway, I am looking forward to getting more and more into vaping, and hope it will soon replace most, if not all, of my my analog smoking....

Welcome to ECF, jplanet! Let's see if this database girl can demystify a couple of things for you...

Steeping juice is the same as aging wine. You just leave the juice alone for a few days to let the flavor develop. Not all juices need steeping and it's completely up to you whether to do it or not. As a general rule, if a juice seems to not have any flavor or tastes a bit "off", let it site for a couple of days and try it again. My own rule of thumb is "if it tastes good, vape it!"

PG/VG - PG is part of what creates throat hit (TH.) It's thinner than VG and carries flavors better. VG is what creates vapor and gives juice a smoother, sweeter taste. It can also mute some flavors. You can play with the ratios of the two until you find a mix that you really like.

Happy Holidays and congrats on the eGo!

Hi and welcome to ECF. You got a good unit to start with in the eGo. There is a steep learning curve to vaping. It took a couple of weeks before I got consistency out of it. Once you do though it all becomes easier. Find a juice you can vape all day and you'll get off those analogs in no time. But don't worry if it doesn't happen overnight. Even if you just cut down on the cigs it's that much less nasty stuff you're inhaling.

Welcome to ECF, from a fellow New Jerseyian!!

An ego is a serviceable PV and trying juices is an ever ongoing "trial and error"
The ratio of PG to VG and nicotine level is personal, everybody has their
own sweet spot. And you might like higher nic at times such as waking up and
after a meal, drinking....etc.

Much of what you read on the forum will be opinion of what works best for that
particular poster. Once you get the basics down you will be better able to try and
find your own preferences. Carts, cartos, HV, LR, etc and just different ways of
changing the taste, throat hit, vapor production, warmth, to suit someones personal
tastes.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Mike, thanks, for the new on the eGo-T, that looks very interesting!

WomanOfHeart, thanks for your explanation of steeping. So, is it really so simple, it doesn't involve leaving the top off of it, etc.?

Some of my other initial thoughts on Day 3 of having the eGo:

- If I get some eliquid in my mouth or on my skin, should I stop everything and wash so that I don't absorb nicotine? Or is it a non-issue?

- The person who got me the eGo as a gift bought it through ecigsupply (joye ego kit). It does not say "Joye" anywhere on the packaging - I would have thought at the very least there would be contact information or a website address somewhere on it, so I wonder if this might be one of the knock-offs I have heard about. How can I tell if its the real thing, and if it works well, should I even be concerned?

Hi JPlanet,

As far as spitting liquid I think most people would tell you stop and clean up.
However, my eGo used to spit on my also and I never suffered any ill affect.

Just the annoyance and dissatisfaction of a messy product.

Shure, do spit the juice out and do wash your hands but I would not worry much beyond that
(others here may have a different opinion however).

With that said. I would like to point you the a product that may make your eGo experience much
Better.

And that is the “Monster atomizer for eGo”. You can see them here: Monster atomizer for eGo

I don’t know how much you smoke but I have often thought that a non-spitting larger tank for the eGo would pretty much make it a perfect mod.

It looks as though it is a Joye eGo.

Nicotine is poison in sufficent concentration, but handle it safely and don't be scared of the juice.
The amont of juice in a cart is minimal, even at high (30mg - 36mg/mL) nic levels,
is not strong enough to cause most people any issues.

You'll find some of your carts and cartos will leak at times, (overfilled, bad seal...)
a few drops on your hands is only bad in that it's sticky.

I beleive the genuine ego should have silver trim with a smokey white button.
Some of the copies (Riva) are highly regarded, so if it's working well it shouldn't
be a issue.

Thanks to all, and to Mike for the info on the atomizer - that looks very cool!

So far, I only experienced getting eliquid in my mouth while using one of the cartridges that came with the starter kit. Since I started dripping (I do only 3-4 drips), I don't think I've experienced any leaks of any kind. But, it's good to hear that it's not that big of a deal...I am more concerned about it happening while I am using it somewhere where I cannot easily get to a place to wash up, like in the car...

I'll be very busy reading through the forum now to find recommendations on eliquids, etc...Looking forward to getting into this more and more!

When I get juice in my mouth I don't worry about it. Unless it's a whole drop or more it just tastes nasty. You say you're dripping so I assume you have some juice on hand. If you don't have more than a couple of bottles you should consider purchasing more in the next day or so. Average consumption is around 3ml a day +/-, so a 10ml bottle lasts around 3 days. At the same time think about ordering an extra atty or two. Quite a few people burn out their first ones pretty quick by letting them run too dry or holding the button down too long. It can take a little while to get over the learning curve. But you want to have spare atty's in case you kill 'em early.

Thanks for the tip on having replacement atomizers on hand. Any recommendations on which ones/where to get for the eGo?

Some people are apparently having an issue with LR atty's under 2.0 ohms causing battery failure. I used them on my eGo's without a problem. If you want to risk it here's what I've been using LitecigUSA Premium Joye Low Resistance 510 Atomizer. If you want to play it safe try these Expert 510 Atomizer which perform almost as well and cost a bit less. Wherever you decide to buy from, consider adding a drip tip to your order. They're cheap and effective.

Thanks for the tip (no pun intended - LOL)!

I must say that I've really been enjoying this - after a few days, I have reduced my analog smoking by 1/3, and I look forward to continuing down that road.

One thing that is making it easier are all tehse wonderful flavors I got in the VaporStation variety pack I got for Christmas. I've really been enjoying the Creme Soda, Frisco, Tampa, Tennessee, Cocoa, Tiramisu - the Rosewater was a lovely surprise, though probably not an all-day-vape...

Now I'm looking forward to receiving my Johnson Creek order - I have Swiss Dark, French Vanilla, and Tennessee Cured on the way!
