I understand trying to keep spam to a minimum, however these post rules seem to be a little ridiculous, isn't a Captcha for signup good enough to stop the spam bots? And wouldn't a decent group of mods be sufficient enough to ban the people who spam?

Maybe I'm just mad cause I've had my account a while and can't post anymore (not that I posted often, I mostly just read). However it's still aggravating.:2c:

No, Captcha won't work because most of the spam we get here is from unregistered suppliers. Since this is a new-ish industry and a lot of suppliers are somewhat small, it's usually a real person doing the spamming.

It's 5 posts. It took me all of a day to reach 5 posts. If it really bothers you that much, I don't really understand why you'd take the time out to complain about it. Look! You've already increased your post count!

Seriously, it's not like they're asking you to perform brain surgery before you can post other places. It's just 5 posts. Not a big deal.

You could have spent these posts asking questions or providing answers rather than complaining...

It's really not that hard to type welcome 5 times to other new members just to get past that 5 post spam limit, IMO... For someone who's had their account as you say "for a while" and Is bothered by the rule I would think you would do that and never have to worry about it again. It's simple.

Ps: it can take you less than 3 minutes to post 5 messages.

I've seen sites with about as many members run completely spam free without these rule constraints, and with fewer mods.

I have to ban around 10 spambots a week on a forum that has an average of 10 regular posters, number of members really doesn't mean much.

I'd imagine a site like this would get a buttload of spam without restrictions to limit it.
