IF the head is the one with 2 holes on each side it is not better than the old PT 3 heads IMO. I think they just tried to make it hard to rebuild. They can be rebuilt it's just harder. If it's the new Mega head that has an oval shape on each side that is suppose to be as good as the nautilus. I have some coming but have they are not here yet. That one with the 2 holes on each side is not as good as the original PT3 heads. Just harder to rebuild.

Having just bought an Aerotank the other day, I've started the research, but haven't tried the process yet.

I watched a video the other day on rebuilding the dual coil.

The coils are 'stacked' with a flavor wick between them.

This is different from the other dual-coil like the Aspire BDC that the coils are criss-crossed.

The approach taken in the video is to make an oval shaped coil approximately 1/8th across.

2 ways I've seen that done:
  1. Wrap around a "zip tie"
  2. Wrap around two 1/16" drill bits (awkward)

1/8" will fill the taller slot (compared to a single coil design) nicely.

Not a lot of information, but what I've found so-far...

i have been rebuilding Kanger duals with a single coil wrapped on swiss army knife tweezers. makes a tall 1/16"i.d. width radiator. fills the height requirement perfect. no top wick needed. i use 30ga. nichrome 6 wraps to get the resistance down to 1.4 ohm and fire regulated. i have got to make/grind/find something the same shape to make it easier to slip off the end. the zip tie is a good idea. its a little tricky to build but worth the effort.
the new coil i am familiar with has two small holes on either side. i have been using one in a pt3 filled with adv tobacco. i have vaped 4 tanks through it and still no off flavor. my cotton builds generally are ready to be freshened up by the end of the third tank. been quite a while since i vaped silica wick and am impressed with how long the new coil lasts. i passed on the other 4 in the box to a friend i helped start vaping. he won't get into rebuilding and i wanted to get him started with something simple and reliable. i will have to try an original dual after this one to compare longevity. i may have been mistaken or misled that the new coil is an improvement. i figured they wanted to sell more replacements with the new design. won't be long before i can rip one apart and see what makes it tick.
