Hi Everyone,

I've been vaping for about a week now and love it. Haven't touched an analog since I started. I do however have a problem and am looking for some insight.

I purchased a 510 ego kit from madvapes and it's amazing. Last night, however, the battery became very hot, the light flashed at me and I was unable to turn it off. It actually melted part of the cartridge, killed the atty, and now I am unable to get the battery to work at all.

Is this a common problem? Is there a solution, or is the battery dead?

I tried calling madvapes, but was not able to get anyone on the phone (just rang and rang). I tried emailing, but the sales email is just an automated thing. I tried going to the trouble ticket portion, but that webpage is out of service.

According to their policy, I should still be under warranty. Any suggestions on how to contact them, or how to proceed from here? I know things go bad after awhile, but moderate usage for one week seems like it may have been faulty from the beginning.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry about your problem. No that is not a common problem. You charged it in its own charger right?

IMO I would not have bought their model - I would have bought a real Joye or Janty Ego if I wanted an Ego (at any shop - if it says Ego without Joye or Janty, then it is probably a clone, and others have said the Madvapes one is a clone). Or many of us own the popular Riva 510 model (the model Liberty-Flights.com carries only since they have the new higher voltage model, not an SLB one). I would not buy a mystery clone. You are not the first person to have a problem with the Madvapes Ego clone.

They have a ticket system for problems. Use the link here on their front page:

BTW re Riva 510 (a popular Ego clone many of us own) - under $30 for the lite bundle at Liberty-Flights.com with their 20% off (front page upper left).

Wow. That must have been scary. Then, ouch. $80 for an Ego kit? All clones aren't cheap or expensive knock-offs but it takes a lot of patience to wade through the data and hype. I agree with Dormouse on the Riva. It's a great product and Liberty-Flights gets a lot of press on ECF. I like the KGO even better (more voltage and 1100 mAh so a batt lasts at least all day). $45 for a kit at HoosierEcigSupply (.com) and BreezeSmokes (.com). Can't go wrong with Kgo or Riva if you decide on a refund. The melting, won't-turn-off experience would have me looking for a replacement.

I wish you good luck, dear. I've never heard of that happening. Scary stuff! I hope it's sorted out for you, pronto. Btw...

As I've seen many members here say, "listen to the mouse." ;) Always go for brand name. Liberty Flights has the Joye Ego as well as the Joye Ego passthrough (just ordered one - so excited!). I don't own a Riva (yet!) personally, but I hear great things. :)

Welcome! Vape on, my friend.

$48 or so for the kit... $32 for the juice from velvet vapors, so a little over $80 total.

It was pretty scary since it happened at about 1am and was my last "right-before-sleep" drag or two. I just looked at my cartridge again and the tip is melted down the whole one side.

Hopefully I can ship it back soon since there is an awful burning metal stench coming from the battery - kind of like the metallic smell you get on your hands when you handle a bunch of pennies.

I'm going to check out some of the other models you mentioned. My parents just retired and are looking to kick the analog habit and have been asking me to recommend some to them. I'll be passing on some of these suggestions, then probably getting them for myself as well!

Decent batteries are protected against that electronically (should disable and flash to warn if there is a short or over-discharge i.e. too much current being drawn) and all fat 510-threaded batteries should be sealed on the threaded end so juice doesn't get in. What happened to you just shouldn't happen or at least extremely rarely.

I'm starting to get a little concerned that I haven't heard a thing from Mad Vapes since submitting my trouble ticket two days ago, and nobody answers the phone there at any time of the day. I keep hearing that Mad Vapes is a great retailer, so what gives? Looks like I'm screwed one batt and I'll be taking my business elsewhere from now on.

Do another ticket. I heard from them the next day. Maybe your ticket got lost or didn't go through.
