Well, here goes the cliche first post.

I have been smoking heavily now for the past 7-8 years and am looking to quit/start "vaping".

I am trying to figure out where to start. So far, from what I've read (not here) the V2 Standard Starter Kit seems like the best for starting out. All of the reviews that I've seen sing praises about the product.

Thoughts?

As I have previously stated, I am VERY new and clueless as to where to begin.

Thank you in advance for all of your help.

Based on your username I will make the assumption you a bloke and won't mind carrying around a PV that is a bit chunkier. The batteries look to be around 250mah and the recharging will eventually frustrate you and as it gets older the runtime gets less. I would advise getting something around 650mah or higher to start with and see if vaping is for you. The cost will be around the same price as well. Welcome to ECF.

I'm right behind you
welcome to ECF bryan! You are about to be bombarded with replies so I will make this short. I too went with V2 because of all the review sites I found on google. I got the ultimate kit. This was before I found this forum. V2 has some quality stuff, don't get me wrong. well made and solid. However, after being here less than a week and reading through the forum I ordered a kGo and found it to be way cheaper than the v2 and a much better vape. But any ecig that gets you off the stinkies is a good ecig and like I said, v2 has good stuff, just a bit pricey and the 808's ended up not being the vape experience I personally was looking for. But I congratulate you on taking the first step to quitting analogs and suggest you take some time to look around this great forum before typing in your CC number.

Welcome Bryan! I am with Sicarius -- I wouldn't get a cigarette-looking type kit. The batteries dont last very long and you might not get quite the hit you want. I have an eGo kit that i got from LIberty Flights (there is a 20% off button on the upper left corner of the web site). I got the ego-T 900 mAh. I would suggest, though, that you might not want to go with the tank type eGo, there are other types and most people discard the tank system for something else.

Since you are very new, maybe this will make it easy. 1. I would stay away from cigarette looking e cigs and go for something bigger with better battery life so you dont have to recharge every couple of hours. 2. I would get a manual battery (that you have to press every time you want to take a drag) instead of an automatic battery because the manuals are sealed and if you leak juice, an auto will die easier. 3. I would get something that says it has a 510 connection. These are very common connections so that you could interchange many different kinds of atomizers or cartomizers as you progress. 4. I would get a battery over at least 650 mAh so that you can use low resistance atomizers or cartomizers.

Good luck to you and i know others will be on to give you more advice, so continue to ask whatever questions you might have!

Doesn't it make you wonder why a big supplier wouldn't want to be a registered supplier on probably the biggest ecig board there is where they would sell 100x more ecigs if they were actually selling a good product?

Hi bryan and welcome. Last month I switched from 35 years at a pack and half a day to vaping. As the others have said, you may wish to look into some of larger units called "mods". They can still be carried in a pocket. I have the E-Power 14650. One filling of the carto lasts me most of the day and the batteries go more than a day between recharges. With a mod you get some practical advantages and the potential to save big money over smoking.

Kudos to you Bryan for finding ECF and inquiring first!

Wish I'd done that instead of going with 4 different kits before taking the sage advice of many experienced ECF vapers!
