So my uncle's health has been declining and he was recently told by his doctor that he should quit the vapor all together. My uncle gifted me multiple tanks, cartomizers, and vaporizers. I've been using the Sentinel M16 that he gave me, but I'm having trouble when trying to use a tank. I keep getting a burnt taste. I've even left the tank full overnight so that the cartomizer could really soak it in. When I just use a standard cartomizer without a tank it seems to work perfectly. I tried punching some bigger holes through the cartomizers, but that hasn't seemed to help at all. I've tried multiple tanks also, including a Smoktech U-DCTank, Pyrex DCTank, and a couple other pyrex tanks that are labeled OG on the side.

I just don't want to have to refill multiple times a day and so I would really like to get this tank up and running. Can anyone help me out here? It would be much appreciated! :)

I've used disposable e-cigarettes before and things like the rechargeable Blu e-cigs, but this is my first time delving into the real vaporizer scene. I have a LOT of gear and NO idea how to use it! :p

Carto tanks need to be "primed" before you start vaping on them. If you have not done this before, here is a video for you: Filling and Priming a DCT

The video shows one way to prime a tank. Here's another way: Baditude's Cartomizer Tank Setup Guide

I've only done this using the 1st method (with a tank). However, it has been 4 years since I last used a carto tank so there may be better ways to do it. Hopefully someone who currently uses carto tanks will chime in.

Thank you! That definitely helped me get my tank going. However... Now I'm having an issue where it seems to keep flooding the cartomizer and I'm getting some liquid in my mouth. It's also leaking a bit from the top. What did I do wrong..?
Welcome to ECF catterwall...

Unless you have a carto tank air leak, usually due to a damaged or missing o-ring... you've flooded the carto. You can let it resolve itself by vaping... or you can remove the tank from the mod, remove the drip tip, and gently blow through the top of the carto... allowing the excess to drain out.

Carto tanks use "pressure differential" to operate. There is, once you take a few vapes, a vacuum (negative pressure) that develops in the tank. This prevents flooding and permits the liquid to be drawn into the carto when you create a vacuum greater than that in the tank, through the act of vaping.

Sounds like your cartomizer is now flooded. It's been a while, but I think if you:

1. remove the tank from the battery.
2. cover the bottom of the cartomizer with your finger
3. blow air through the drip tip

That should force the extra eliquid from the cartomizer back into the tank. Then put the carto-tank back onto the battery and try vaping.
