Hello, I just joined this forum after reading some threads on here. There's so much information on here, and I'm completely new to vaping, I haven't even started yet but hopefully can get some more information from everyone!! I want to start vaping to hopefully quit smoking, I've been smoking for 4ish years (marlb reds/blacks depending on the day). I have tried friends' e cigs and they seem alright, and I love hookah tobacco as well, and vaping just seems like the perfect thing to get my fix of nicotine and throat hit. And potentially after I get a kit or something my father can try it and see if he thinks he could get into it to kick "analogs" as well.

after reading around I've been thinking about getting this kit KR808D1 Starter Kit - Manual button

but I'm a little confused about the re-filling process, do I just buy some juice and drip/pour it into some blank cartomizers?

Hey there tjmmotox,
Welcome aboard,
:2c:
that starter kit is ok, but after a week or two you will wish you had something easier to use, like this
Kanger E-VOD Starter kit, Kanger EVOD clearomizer, Kanger eVod Cartomizer
Charge, fill and go.

I started with a similar KR808D1 Starter Kit, and at the end of a week, it was not working for me.
Found this forum/group of great people and went with a Kanger EVOD starter kit.

was looking to see where I found the link for the tank....found it
The EVOD BCC: Assembly and Use | Virgin Vapor | Electronic Cigarette Organic e-Liquid | Electronic Cigarettes
Dad may even get into it.....know I did.

Welcome to ECF, tjmmotox, and congrats on deciding to try vaping!

I started out with a kit very much like the one you're thinking of, and managed to stay with it for several months. But eventually, needing to recharge the batteries so often, and the hassle of refilling cartridges, and wanting to try all the different clearos and tanks that the 808 batteries couldn't accommodate, made me move on to something like RedNBlack is recommending.

First of all, cartridges can carry much less juice than a clearomizer or tank (like the evod). And clearomizers/tanks are *much* easier to refill. The 280 mAh battery in your kit is going to last you probably around 2 or 2.5 hours, while the batteries in the evod kit (650 mAh) probably 2.5 to 3 times longer. Also, the evod's 510/eGo threading is pretty much industry standard for accessories, while accessories for the KR808's are much more limited. (If you do decide for the evod, be sure to order a sampler pack of juices.)

Yes, the evods and eGos and similar are more expensive to start with, but if you're like most people here, you'll end up saving in the long run and you'll be starting out with better equipment.

Hope this helps a bit. By all means go with what's comfortable for you, and let us know how it's going. And with your dad too! :vapor:  :vapor:

PS to address your question re refilling: I notice your 808 kit comes with prefilled cartridges (random flavor, strength). I'd say you can certainly find a starter kit elsewhere that will allow you to choose your flavor, and your nicotine strength, if you decide to go with the 808s.

Although the prefilled carts are made to be used once and discarded, you certainly can refill them with your own juice. (You can also buy "blank" carts that you fill with your own juice. Some people find this easier to do than others, but because each cart is usually the equivalent of around 6-10 cigarettes, you may find the refilling process frequent and tedious. Some vendors have videos on their sites showing how to do the refill, and there are also videos on YouTube.

(Check out the InfoZone here on ECF; lots of helpful information for new vapers.)

thanks for all the welcomes and information! today at the bottle shop I picked up a little disposable one in classic tobacco flavor just to see if this is something that could work for me. and so far, I don't mind it at all, the one I got has 2.1% which feels a bit harsh but I do like the idea of these a lot, and looking at the eVod kit RedNBlack suggested I think I might have to go with that one here soon, I feel like a clearomizer/tank would work well with me and a longer lasting battery always seems like a good idea. The kit overall looks pretty sweet, and hopefully I can find some flavors/brands I like once I actually get around to ordering the kit

Hey tjmmotox, was not trying to talk you out of your selection of the KR808 kit,
and was not trying to "up size" ya with the EVOD.

I started my vape ride with the Mistic cig-a-likes and found out the re-filling was.......ok.

Looked more on this forum, asked more questions, and decided to try the Joye 510 kit.
Joye 510 eCigarette Kit with 2 Manual Batteries | Awesome Vapor

These were some easier, but still felt something was still missing...

As far as filling/refilling this youtube link may explain some of the steps

Filling a Blank 510 Cartomizer - YouTube

I found that the EVOD kit let you charge the battery/fill the tank and go.

Well I was kinda liking that "style" more than the regular pen look, and I don't really like the "analog look" and I was planning to spend about $50 for starters anyways, I guess I don't really understand how a different battery or cartridge or tank changes the experience, I guess it'll be a learning experience! I just hadn't found a kit like that for that price before, and the kit's appealing to me, I haven't made any final choices yet, still just browsing around such what

Suggested starting point.

Great device for a beginner: would be a EVOD. They're easy to fill, reliable and very easy to replace the heads and rebuild them if/when you are ready. Such similer devices but different looks are as follows : EVOD, MT4, T3, T32, T3s, T4, X6S , REM, V2 , KWX6 , X9 Protank, Protank 2, Protankmini, KWX5, PURITANK etc. Pick up any of the listed devices and a few replacement heads (heating coils) for easy consistent vap.
All of these are BCC,

Sample set : fasttech.com/products/0/10004766/1368502-ego-evod-6-in-1-rechargeable-900mah-electronic
EVOD Electronic Cigarettes Round Mouth Atomizer: fasttech.com/products/0/10004691/1363501-evod-electronic-cigarettes-round-mouth-atomizer-15
EVOD Electronic Cigarettes Atomizer Heating Core (5-Pack) : fasttech.com/product/1387600

Above totals under 30 bucks and you will be sailing smooth.

Add small sample sized e-liquid from mt.baker, Buy more after you find nic level and taste fits you.

Goodluck and best with your quiting.

Cheers

Welcome TJ!
Most of us using 510 or EGO connection, dont waist your money on 808.
Start with Kanger EVOD kit for sure!
Just google around for the best price and make sure it's shipped from USA.
I am sure website will have E--juice as well, get few small bottles of different flavors first.

Thanks! I've been shopping around trying to find a good low price on the kit, and have also been looking at heathers heavenly vape juices, they look pretty good and I can get a little sampler pack!
