Just joined the ECF because it looks like a great place with loads of info about vaping. I'm analog free for 12 weeks (or 1,680 cigarettes)! From the first day that I started vaping I have not had a single craving for an analog. I found that amazing because I'd been trying gum and patches off-and-on for a year, due partially to my wife's "encouragement" to quit, with no real luck.

I was cleaning out the truck a couple of days ago and ran across an old pack (Newport 100s) and thought "what the heck" and decided to light one up. More out of curiosity than a desire to really smoke one. I fired it up, taking a normal drag, and went into about a 2 minute coughing fit. I'd say that's a good indication that my lungs are healing :). I immediately noticed that bottom-of-the-ashtray taste in my mouth. That's it for me. Without another thought, I crushed it and I believe that devil is totally behind me now.

If I had found the ECF before I made my first e-cig purchase it would've saved me a lot of trouble. Anyway, glad to be here now.

welcome aboard--i'm an ex newport smoker myslef but i haven't quite vanquished the devil... once a week or so i get the idea into my head that a cigarett is looking mighty good. I throw on a new carto and the though passes but i've had some relapses that have lasted for months. stock up get spares back ups and stashes in place. I'm about 10 weeks in on my latest quit/vape.

Yep, those Newports. When they were good they were *really* good. I could hardly stand the thought of even trying to quit. I guess that's why I had such a struggle with quiting. Keep up the good fight ... it's worth it. But even after 12 weeks, I still haven't hit on a good menthol flavor that really resonates like those 'ports did. Still looking.

Welcome to ECF. Yep, stinkies are just that, stinkies. I can hardly stand to be in cig smoke at all anymore. It's still hard to believe that I used to ingest that crap. Happy vaping.

I definitely do not miss the burnt-tobacco smell ... clothes, hair, hands, truck ... stinkie is right. My wife quit smoking 2 years ago, cold turkey, and she's definitely glad the smell is gone.

I had a friend come over who still smokes (she has an ecig, but still can't seem to quit) and I tried one, like you, out of curiosity, not craving. I smoked the whole thing, but just before I finished, I was SO nauseated! I don't know how I ever smoked a PPD or more. Then came the gross taste in my mouth (didn't help the nausea). I immediately brushed my teeth. I certainly don't miss the icky taste in my mouth (probably why I brushed my teeth about 10 times a day - every time I came in from smoking - although that did make my dentist happy). I just realized that not only am I saving $ spent on analogs, but also toothpaste! LOL And my jackets, clothes and hair no longer have that nasty smell.

Welcome to ECF,
Congrats on getting off cigarettes. It's one of the very best things you can do for yourself and your body will thank you each and every day you remain smoke free.
After 40 years of smoking, I still find it hard to believe I am now an ex-smoker.
I ride a FLHTCUI and the season is ON!

Stick close to ECF. They offer lots of support and encouragement.
Good luck Brother...and stay strong, in and out of the saddle.:thumb:
