Well...I guess it's time for me to say hello.
My story is very much similar to a lot I've been reading here. Been a pack & a half a day smoker for close to 40 years. Tried to quit many times...failed miserably each time...getting more and more angry at being so addicted to the darned things but feeling powerless trying to quit!!!
I was aware of e-cigs, but didn't really give them too much thought. A close friend of mine mentioned he had switched to e-cigs and was having very good success...so being the research junky that I am, I looked for info on e-cigs online and have been lurking here and several other places for a month or so, studying and learning.
Just as many of you, I was initially quite confused at the myriad of different hardware and conflicting information. I was convinced that e-cigs (and vaping as I learned it was being called) was a "safer" alternative to cigarettes, but I didn't want to drop money on something that was going to break or not work for me. In my studies, I had decided on a few different types of devices I was interested in, and I was lucky enough to find a decent brick & mortar store in the Austin area to go check things out.
To make a long story shorter...A little over a week ago, I bought a Joye Ego starter kit and a few sampler bottles of juice.
This thing totally flabbergasted me! Without even trying, at the end of my first full day with the Ego, I had only had about 4 analogs!! It's really hard to express how MONUMENTAL that was to me! For the first time in my life I felt like I had something that might actually help me quit smoking.
Now it's been a week...and yes I'm still smoking analogs...but MUCH less, and I'm developing a plan.
The goal is to switch completely over to vaping. I have a full carton of analogs in the fridge. (Had them before I bought the Ego) At my current rate of consumption, those will last about another 2-3 weeks at least. The plan is to keep reducing my rate of consumption of the analogs and see if when the carton runs out I'm ready to complete the switch.
In the meantime I'll continue to work on incorporating the e-cig into my daily routine and try some of the new juice flavors I ordered this weekend...
Glad I found this forum. It's a great source of info and it will probably become my support group for this endeavor.
Later...
