I figure I'll introduce myself and work my way up to five posts so I can reply around this here place.
Background: I bought an ecigarette about a year and a half ago - way overpriced but solid, and I continued smoking cigarettes and using the ecig when I was lazy and didn't want to go outside into the heat, or I wanted to smoke it like a hookah.
About a month and half ago I decided to save money and stop smoking the regular cigs completely. The worst was the first couple days, but after that my sense of smell got stronger, my sleeping better, and my bank account less empty. I have taken one puff about two weeks of a cigarette since then, just to see if it was still attractive to me. It wasn't satisfying one bit, and even a bit disgusting. Smelling cigarette smoke walking into Wal-Mart was unpleasant. This is a great thing! After a week
I will now try to slowly wean myself off of nicotine, but I'd still rather inhale nicotine, PEG/VG and bit of non-diacetyl flavoring Vs. a .... ton of different oxidation products contained in that one way overpriced rolled up stick of tobacco.
Now I always noticed you don't get the full effects that a cigarette offered - I read this is due to the fact that tobacco when smoked also releases a MAOI which increases mono-amines in the brain and allows dopamine to accumulate in the synapses at higher levels than pure nicotine or at baseline, because there is less MAO to break it down as quickly. This however is something I am totally willing to live with, I'll give up that extra little bit for my health, my money and my sense of smell and not smelling like tobacco smoke.
Is there discussion of the pharmacology on forum somewhere? I have to get to 5 posts anyway so discuss away here!
Thanks for any input, kind words.
