Hi guys, new member here. Been using e cigs and just getting into the next stage.
a friend of mine bought me an entry level battery, tank burner unit but it seems to be leaking.
think he may have been conned.
Hoping to get some info on better units from the people who know better.
Maurice.
Welcome Maurice. I know your part of the world.
Your "burner unit" is an atomizer in a tank (of some sort). The most common types are known as clearomisers (clearomizers - US) and they come in a variety of designs, reliability, price, colour, and resistance (how powerful/hot they work on a battery).
Leaking itself doesn't necessarily mean "conned" or "fake/cheap"... but it's probably fair to say that the basic high street and ebay/amazon stuff can be hit and miss.
You could buy from a shop (bricks and mortar shop) but chances are in leafy Surrey, you will get charged too much unless you are lucky to have a local vaping store that is more interested in service/customer satisfaction than making money.
I know London shops that will charge you £100 for a £30 kit. There are also some "brand" stores (like Totally Wicked) where things are more expensive than online. Sometimes the extra cost is fair and understandable, sometimes not.
The cheapest (or good value) UK retailer for most kit is probably MYEPACK. They are London based.

The best all-round Vendor for e-cigs is probably Vape Escape.
Vape Escape
I use both.
Please ask away.... I can help with most questions.
Local corner stores and ebay (especially) are cheap and often nasty. E-Liquid is not legal on ebay, but they turn a blind eye.
The best value e-liquid retailer in the UK is probably LT e-cigs.
LT Ecigs
Why people pay £4.99 or more for bog standard liquid is a mystery. Sure, you can spend £6-£8 on really nice stuff, but it won't be from a mega e-cig chainstore....
