new member looking for some box mod help

Hey guys I'm new here (first post) but definitely not new to vaping. I'm in the process of building a unregulated Hammond 1590b box mod with a fdv spring loaded 510, dual 26650 in series(efest 64amp 3500 mah) with custom sled, 3 amp at 240v flush fire button and 16 gauge wire. I keep seeing 26650 box mods with and without a mosfet with this switch. I am curious if its really needed in my setup or not? Any experienced builder suggestions are much appreciated!

I suggest fuses and a mosfet. Those switches may handle the current for a while but what do you do when it sticks. There is more info when you can access the mod area

Please use a mosfet. You are going to use a 3amp switch and 20+ amp from the battery. At some point it's likely your switch will weld itself open. That won't be fun at all.

Thanks for the help guys! I ordered one just in case. (N-channel 202a 40v). I just wanted to make sure they were necessary with the build I'm doing... And it sounds like I do.

What mccannch said -- at the amps & high voltage you're likely to be dealing with mosfet is pretty much the sane choice, though I have to admit I'd smile if you had one of these.

You didn't mention the mosfet you ordered. A lot of things make a difference on the one you use. I personally like the IRL3103 for an N-Channel

I've got a irf1404 and a irlb3034 just in case. I've heard of both used in box mods. Why is one better the the other? Is it drain?

i'm planning on building a very similar box, except mine will be in parallel. i have the two 15A fuses, in parallel, because i don't plan on going below 0.2 ohms. with a switch that is 12V/60A, would i also need a mosfet? i'm mostly trying to build this box for the battery life as opposed to insanely high voltage and cloud chasing haha.

I'm an idiot, I didn't mean to write series... Totally meant parallel. I've had series on the mind because I'm designing a series box too but that's down the line a bit.

Outside of that I still plan on using a MOSFET after doing some more reading. Its cheap insurance really...especially with the load on the switch. I don't want a flaming box of fire lol

Good deal. Make sure to fuse each battery separate then hook them together. That way if anything happens to one it wont affect the other.

I use the irlb3034 in all my box builds.
