Hello all. I figured since I have been vaping on and off for 3 years or so, it was time to join a forum. It seemed this was the best one for me. I started out with a $125 kit from the tobacco store in the mall 3 years ago. That one sucked. It was the small cigarette size one with removable refill cartridges made of foam or something awful. I went back to smoking off and on until finding the right tips, juices, and battery for me. After trying different things through the years I am now as of a few days ago on a Vision Spinner 1300. I use evod bottom burning style tips right now, but I may want to try something better with recommendations.

From the little bit of research I have done I think I need to go to a higher ohm cartomizer if anything. I am currently on a 2.2ohm vaping at 4.3V or 4.0V and the cartomizers stop working after a day or two. I am on a 90%VG / 10%PG blend of strawberry banana btw.

I look forward to getting good info and tips from you all.

:)

Ricky, I started out pretty much the same way as you. None of it really satisfied me untill I bit the bullet and made the mental commitment to dive into the world of rebuildables. Got a DNA30, and Russian 91% and my whole world changed. If my fat fingers and 50 year old eyes can wrap a micro-coil, and wick it, anyone can do it.

Hi, my first ecig was one as yours, like 5 years ago, didn't help to much. Even at different models. Still I knew it will came the day.
then like 2 years ago I start my journey to stop smoking and get really into it.

I have been try it all the styles and forms, I'm just into dripping, for the amount of vapor and flavor you get from it, but if you are into evods, for me the next step was the kayfun, it was really a step up in all the ways.

If you choose to go for a kayfun style tank, do it right from the first try and buy one with adjustable air flow (like the Russian 91%, or kayfun 3.1) specially if you are using 90% VG.

at the long run it will be cheaper than buying head coils and cartos, and there are always good clones if the budget is limited.

That they stop working after only a day or 2 is strange . I have gotten weeks out of a coil .
I clean mine with boiling water every 2 days or so . I just soak them and let them dryout a bit .
If the center pin gets pushed down you can pry them up a bit with a nailfile .gently .
I pulled the pin up on my old Ego Twist and nothing. Tried 3 other smaller batteries too. I may need to switch to a different ohm like I said.

The Kayfun Lite and the Russian 91% are basically the same thing. A bottom coil, rebuildable, tank style topper. They are way more consistent then clearomizers (tank style cartomizers) in my experience, especially with thicker e-liquids like you're using. However, there is a greater learning curve, as you need to build the coils from kanthal and cotton yourself. There are various calculators online where you can enter the gauge of kanthal you are using, the diameter of the drill bit, toothpick, etc of the instrument you are wrapping the kanthal around, and your goal for resistance (ohms). The calculator will then tell you how many wraps you'll need to make. As its only a good estimate however, you should also get an ohms meter that will tell you the exact ohms of the coil you created.

Another alternative is to rebuild the atomizer heads for your Evods. It can be done with kanthal and cotton as well. If your juice isn't wicking fast enough, use less cotton. If the coil is flooding, use more. You'll still need the ohm meter, and it won't be as good as a Kayfun or Russian, but it'll at least get you more use from the clearomizers you have. Kanthal is only around $8 for a hundred feet over at Temco, and you can pick up a bag of cotton from CVS that'll last you forever. An ohm meter is around $15.

Thanks again. I didn't pay attention or realize you guys were talking about building these. I don't know if I will want to get on that level. I am okay just buying the internals and replacing, but I'm not sure about drilling, stuffing cotton, etc... I am running the evod tips now and I can easily deal with replacing the cartomizers. I am hoping that a higher ohm will help with them burning out.

I am open to better options like this, but the build your own mod is a different, and more committed life that I'm not sure I want to get into. lol

One thing you can do is thin out your 90% VG e-liquid by adding a few drops of distilled water to your tank. That may help.

If you would like to update your tank, consider getting a glass tank with airflow control. The mini Aerotank (holds 1ml) or Aerotank (holds 2.5mls). Even though I have not used these exact models (I have many of the original Mini Protanks & Protank v2), I upgraded all my mini protanks/protanks with the new Aerobase that is on the new models. It works GREAT!

Consider starting a thread asking about these models. The aerotanks all use dual coils and my Protank and mini Protank (with upgraded Aerobase) uses a single coil. So I can't speak to the difference in these.

Like Susan said, thin out your eliquid some, or at least hot water wash the coil out nitely.

You can try 70PG/30VG, if they make it. That's the mix that used to be recommended to newcomers.

Pretty much VG or Sweetner are the coil cloggers.

Folks here will direct you to places that have replacement coils cheap.

    Welcome-Good to have you here!!
