Hello,

first post, please be kind if you can resist, or go ahead and make fun of me.. I don't really mind.

I haven't even started vaping yet. I ordered my first kit, few bottles of juice, etc.. it should all arrive later this week.
I have been doing lots of reading, watching a ton of videos etc, slowly learning about all this. I'm very excited to try it out, and I'm thrilled about the idea of giving up analogs for good.

I heard about the forum in a few videos, decided to check it out, was reading some posts, and then... I saw a post from e-pipeman mentioning that PG is very bad for cats.

I love my cat. she is one of the reasons I wanna quit analogs. or a great motivation if you will. and even tho I found a second post from him saying he owns a cat and it should be safe (provided I don't let her get near juices nor constantly blow it in her face). I would love to hear some more feedback about this issue if possible.

I'm a heavy smoker, I try my best to keep her away from my cigarettes. I even imported an insanely expensive air purifier from the UK last year to keep the air a bit more 'friendly' for her. I really thought vaping would be harmless and she would get to hang out closer to me than she currently does. so this was really disturbing news :/

might sound dumb to some, but it's very important to me, any advice or experience you could share is greatly appreciated.

thanks!

between here and there
Hello and welcome. Their are quite a few animal lovers here at ecf. I have been around cats my whole like(smoking and vaping). Mine do curl up more because I no longer stink from smoking. I never would blow smoke towards them and I don't blow vapor towards them either. As long as the animal cannot get to your eliquids, I personally don't see any harm. Mine are just as healthly as ever. There have been studies done on the effects of second hand vapor and the results found absolutely no harm to others around us. I think you can read that report at CASAA, just click the link on my signature below.

Good luck.
:)

Well I have 3 cats, 2 being Savannahs, when I used to smoke they always got up and ran away, now that I vape, they usually just sniff and cuddle back in. Unless it's a flavor that the don't like. They like my apple pie and M.J's cinnamon dragon vape, but not to thrilled about my Cappuccino Blk honey vape.

Yes eating pg, can be bad for some cats, though it is used in other pet foods, but not cats, while it is used in some of their cat litter products. Vaping should not be a problem. I've been vaping for 6 months now, and all my cats are just fine. I have over $3k invested in my Savannahs, so would be concerned if I thought anything was wrong. So far there has been no change in their behavior or health. Though Vape does help with the litter odors. It is a natural disinfectant and antibacterial, also helps control ticks and fleas. And their coat is softer and has a healthy sheen.

Serious, No joke.

I have 15 dogs, 2 cats and 3 parrots. I don't blow vapour into their faces but I do vape around them all and none of them are showing any ill effects. Birds are particularly sensitive to gases, chemicals, etc and mine appear to be just fine. My main concern is making sure that none of the animals can get at the actual juice. Some of those smell good enough to eat and I keep them in a drawer out of reach of the dogs in case they ever got tempted to sample them.

Don't have any cats, but my male Boston Terrier get in my face when I vape. He loves the cinnamon and pumpkin flavors LOL. I don't actively blow in his face or anything, but he gets right up in my grill when he sees my Vamo. When I smoked he really wasn't the lap dog type, now however he won't leave me alone....

But like others have said, keep the juice out of reach. The cats I have had in the past were jumpers and liked to knock things on the floor then play with them. I would hate to see an animal get a bottle open and ingest the juice....

I’ve read a number of cases on here of cats being sensitive to the PG in the vapor. Most do not seem to be. Their symptoms usually appear to first manifest themselves with excessive licking. There are more common stories about people’s cats going bonkers over catnip ejuice. My dog's a lush for The coffee vape. Just heed Pipeman's advice and keep an eye on your cat’s behavior. Happy vaping to you both. :)

CCC1, 15 dogs? 8-o Awesome. That must be something at dinnertime though.

Hi sunnata and welcome!!!

Ever since I began vaping 2 months ago my cat seems to have become my new best friend. Wherever I'm at, he's right there.
I honestly don't know if it has to do with me or my belongings not smelling like cigarette smoke anymore or what.
As it stands, we have to flip a coin to see which one of us can get in my bed- don't laugh....I'm being serious.
I don't have to worry about him getting to my juices- he's too lazy to jump.

My Shih Tzu is extremely particular but has gotten better. Certain flavors I vape she would think is food and jump up to eat.
Now if I don't move, she won't move so I guess she knows I'm not secretly eating something.

I'd like to go to bed right now but may have to fight.

My cats, dog and bird are fine with my high pg liquids and have no problems....however they will not stay out of my face and go nuts trying to inhale the second hand vape when I vape Cheshire Catnip from Alice in Vapeland...yes it is a catnip vape.
As long as you do not let them drink the liquid or get it on them they will be fine

@geeve - I have chosen a drawer that's out of her reach and will keep the juices in it. my only concern at this point is getting a good box for tanks to avoid any leaks that might go unnoticed and could get her attention while I am sleeping or not at home, but I will definitely be super careful.

@ScandaLex - thanks for the warm welcome! I have the same issue, some nights she sleeps in the DEAD CENTER of my bed and I wake up nearly falling out of it lol. she is pretty stubborn too, if I don't ask her to get away from my nasty smoke, she will squint her eyes at me "aren't you going to put that out?" but won't really move away

but if I don't ask her to move away she will sneeze like crazy at night and it just drives me insane. I am sure she will love the option of not getting yelled at when she wants to hang out, and I'm smoking.

@meanckz - in one word, availability. e-cigs are not allowed around here so our selection is very very limited. but the more I look, the more I find, so in time it shouldn't really be a problem.

@KdAthena - catnip juice! wow... out of curiosity, is it VG? regardless, I would love to try some! hopefully I can eventually find a flavor we both enjoy, safely :D

@Cannonfoddr - can't wait to allow her to hang with me at all times, she would love to. I keep thinking "it's for your own good, just please go to your bed for a bit". sometimes she goes, other times only if I yell at her.. :/

thanks a lot everyone!

I can not vape high VG juice it causes me a real problem with heavy sore lungs so all my juices have to be 50/50 or higher I prefer 80/20 or 70/30.....some people do prefer high VG but it messes me up badly. The Cheshire Catnip is a higher PG juice. You will really not have a problem with the PG unless your cat licks it...it is used in the non toxic antifreeze to prevent problems to wildlife if it is drank by animals...and in hospital and vet offices in the air systems to help prevent spread of diseases.

I don't know anything about how PG is with cats but I can say my cat hates me more now that I am vaping. I never smoked in my home. I would sit on the porch all the time smoke and read and she would sit outside with me. Now that I am vaping I am in the house more and she is angry about it. I am having to sit outside whether I like it or not to keep her from killing me in my sleep. Lol
