Hello everyone! New member here. My name is Mike and i've been trolling the forums for a while now prior to registering while trying to figure out the crazy world of vaping.

(My vape story; probably shared by most everyone else here i'm sure)
I quit smoking analogs in august when I ran out of smokes and saw a package at the local convenience store that intrigued me. It was the Blu Electronic Cigarette starter pack. I swiftly snagged it up, put it on charge as I headed home and had my first vape. Man, was it weird but I saw the potential. I quickly remembered seeing one of those kiosks in the mall and it led me to doing some research online. From there, after much internal debate on hardware, juice etc., I decided to make the 40 minute commute to a local b&m where I purchased two ego-twist style batteries, an iClear 16, Kanger T3s, charger, carrying case and a couple bottles of juice. Now that was a good vape. I was hooked. No more cigarettes. Who knew it could get any better than that. Well it does....

Less than one month later I find myself back in the store this time walking out with a Protank 2. Shortly after that i'm already upgrading to the Innokin SVD and less than a month afterwards placing and order for a Provari and a Z-atty Pro along with all the essentials to go along with it. Holy hell this is getting expensive and now i'm just telling myself it's all so I don't go back to smoking but truth be told, and we all know this, it's become more of a hobby now. It's become something to play with, to tinker with settings and figure out what watts and ohms and e-liquid ratios you like the best depending on your mood. The list goes on and on.

So, jump forward about another month and here we are today after having sifted through tons of videos and reviews, trolled many forums and deliberated for days I have found myself yet again greeting the man at the door scantily clad in what, at the time, appears to be a shinning suit of chocolate brown armor, bearing a house crest on his oddly shaped chariot that reads UPS as he hands me a package containing my new excalibur.... Okay, maybe not an excalibur. My SS Just GG.

Where does this end? Who really cares, it's a fun journey and I am enjoying every bit of it. Now if only that UPS guy would hurry up and bring me my Taifun GT i'll be set until the next thing itches my fancy.

Post number 5..... Check!

Currently running the Aspire BDC "vivi nova" on the Just GG with the Kick 2 and Efest IMR 18500 and loving it. Can't wait to try out the Taifun GT when it comes in.

Welcome brother and congrats on staying smoke free! My experience mirrors yours only it took me a year to pry myself away from EGO batteries and discover the lovely lovely world of mods. We may be spending a lot on ecig gear but at least we will add years to our life.

On second thought those years will probably be spent working to make back the money we spent on mods and trinkets.....D'oh!

Haha I can relate with your experience a lot. My first purchase was at a convention in Los Angeles in 2008 where I stumbled upon a vendor selling cheap starter kits. I originally thought it would be an awesome device for airports and such as I was traveling a lot then. I used to vape sitting in my airplane seat mid-flight, catching some strange looks from those around me. No one ever seemed to mind, including the flight attendants, but the FAA has definitely put an end to that. C'est la vie. Once I got into tanks, dripping and mods a while back, my vaping interest took on a life of its own. The gear that's available to us can be even more addictive than the nicotine. And if you're lucky enough to live in an area with a bunch of vape stores (like myself), you can find yourself acquiring new equipment at an ungodly rate. But I do know what you mean about the delivery guy. I've spent days working from home, peering out the window waiting for new toys to arrive. Sounds like you've got some good gear at your house! Cheers mate.

Thanks everyone!

As for "hanging my coat on the GG threads" that's probably true for the time being but I must confess the Poldiac, Super T, Electric Angel and many others were extremely tempting as well. Most all of the higher-end mods seem to have something about them, just that little bit of charm, that screams BUY ME NOW! Just like a fish, show me the shiny stuff and I'm trying to bite at it.

In the end it came down to the GG due to look flexibility, flexibility in battery size, kick-a-bility and availability. In case anyone is interested I live on the east coast and purchased it online at Vaperev 4 days ago. To permanently hang my hat on something would be to grab one of these bad boys - Otto Carter

Thanks! I don't know about advanced. Would just say well-informed and adventurous. There are tons of sites for learning everything you need to know about this and none of it is rocket science. One of the first sites I came across where I learned a lot was tasteyourjuice.com. Not saying he is the end-all or absolute expert on vaping but he puts on a quality production that I happen to like. Phil does a pretty darn good job of explaining and showing how things work and more importantly his video quality is great. You can know everything there is to know about something but if you film it on crappy equipment and slap it online i'm just not going to watch it.

Interesting story and I think, you changed your e cigs in a very high speed.I am thinking to buy my start kit.

Thanks. I agree 100% How I went about my vaping is not completely necessary at all. I did find that with even moderate experience and exposure I quickly gained an appreciation/yearning for different gear. Some of this came as a sort of self-induced necessity as well though.

I started on a simple off the shelf system that was not a very stellar performer. The ego starter kit was good and the clearomizers worked good but lacked consistency and throughout the day as the battery drained it needed constant adjustments. Not a big deal, but I knew there had to be alternatives so research led me to purchasing the Innokin SVD so I could run in power mode (adjustable wattage mode), allowing me to put any device on it including my then retained ego threaded clearomizers and have a consistent vape all day long. Later as I began to get into more e-liquid flavors I picked up the Protank 2 so I would have the glass tank protection against some of the e-liquids that can crack a plastic tank or taste funky. The Provari and Z-atty pro was my entry into the rebuildable world. While a completely different vaping experience this led me to being able to save (theoretically) a little money on buying coils as I would be building them myself. Then came different techniques for building coils and using different wicks, pre-oxidize the mesh or pulse method so on and so on. I've been happy oxidizing my wicks, rolling them and wrapping a nice coil on them but wanted to try the pulse method. I haven't been able to successfully do a pulse method on a regulated device, hence the purchase of a mechanical mod.

So what does all of this mean. Most likely - i'm a gear fiend. Bottom line is start of with the basics and if you're happy with what you have and it keeps you off traditional cigarettes then stick with that. If you like to be adventurous, don't mind trying new things and can afford to do so then get yourself some new gear and try everything the vaping world has to offer. The great thing about vaping is it covers every aspect of traditional smoking that would otherwise temp you to go back to that dirty habit. It's not just the nicotine for me. It's the social, oral fixation (yes, I said it), mental aspect, as well as giving you something to occupy time tinkering with gear that would otherwise be allocated to smoke breaks.
