Hi Dave and welcome to the forum. There is a search box in the upper right above your name and avatar. It is keyword activated and I use it daily. Other than that what are you vaping with? (It could help one of the experts understand what you are looking for). Good luck in your vape journey.

Very basically, its personal preference. Use the power (voltage or wattage) range which works best for you and your equipment. Start out in a lower setting, and increase in increments until the vapor tastes burnt or too hot. Then drop down a little. You will find a happy medium between nice flavor and vapor production.

Most beginner vapers are mistaken that they should vape at higher power settings. If the vapor is too hot, burnt, or harsh -- you're probably using too much power. I prefer a cooler vape and rarely vape higher than 10 watts.

A lot of it is personal preference. Click the fire button 3 times and it will switch to watts or volts. I use watts on mine. The "regulated" iStick will set what ever you aren't controlling. So if you set the wattage, the iStick will set the volts for you. It's a safety thingy. The lower the number (ex .5 versus 1.8) the more power you can use to fire the coil to find the sweet spot. If you put too much power onto a coil it will fry the wicking and then you get a burnt taste. The rule of thumb is to start low and work your way up slowly. Try 8 watts, take a hit, bump it up to 10...repeat. If it starts to taste funny or burnt you've gone too high.

Thank you I really don't like vaping above 8.5 watts and I'm using a 80/20 and 70/30 joose mix and I get good flavor and some pretty good clouds. So just maybe I should just sit back and enjoy because this sure beats smoking cigarettes

When I say starting poi t I guess I'm referring to should I be using the vw or vv
Again, this is personal preference. Some people are more comfortable with VV, some more comfortable using VW. Changing settings with one will change the other automatically in use. They both do the same thing at the end of the day, they just use a different method to get there.

I'm more comfortable using Variable Voltage, as that is what I learned on earlier in the old days. With Variable Voltage, you can use the "Ohm Plus 2" formula:

Say your ohm rating on the coil is 2.0 ohms. Add the number "2" to that rating.

2 + 2 = 4 volts
When in Variable Wattage mode, when you change juice devices with a different ohm rating, the processor chip will automatically detect the change in ohms and make the necessary adjustments to provide the power required to continue vaping with the same output.

When changing tanks with different ohms with Variable Voltage, you'll have to repeat the simple math problem shown above. No big deal.

All of the above applies to "factory made" coils. Rebuildable coils are a different story.

Dave you hit the nail on the head with that one. It's not about what everyone else is doing, it's about what works for you. Congrats on getting away from the stinkys! Enjoy the vape.

Usually say to start at 3.5v or the watts that give you 3.5v - The watts required will be different depending on the resistance of your atomiser.
The go up or down by 1 watt at a time or 0.1volts at a time.

For me its dependant on the atomiser and coils if you have a tank that say takes prebuilt coils and a rebuidable section.

I'm looking into rebuilds and that but for now I'm just going to stay with what I have I'm running the istick 30 and I'm liking the fact that I can run a few different styles of tanks like the evod and the kanger pro and the I clear 30 dual cotomizer and I have the subohm ego 1.I'm just going to work on learning on them and I think I need to just settle in and enjoy thank you
