Hi all,

Joined up today as I'm looking for some advice in regards to sport sponsorship in the UK.

I'm a UK based pool player looking for sponsorship and I would like to contact vape businesses in the UK, but I would like to know where I stand legally before contacting.

There are vape busnises all over, that sell in the UK. I guess you could post or email some of the manufacturers forums and manufacturers. I am not sure I have heard such a request before this one but there's no harm in trying I guess. I'm not even sure it's something you can do, it might fall under solicitation of some kind, I would check the rules.

Welcome to ECF.

Do you vape?

If you don't why would any vape company want to sponsor you?

I would contact a UK based sports attorney with your legal questions. Setting up any sponsorship would require a very knowledgeable attorney. Very likely there would be a contract and much paperwork.

If I were you I would look around and see what kinds of sponsorship's other pool players are getting and then target those types of companies.

I do not believe ECF or it's members can offer you legal advice. Point you in a possible direction, yes.

Your governing body should have rules about sponsorship. If tobacco companies are forbidden, vaping companies may also be forbidden.
TPD2 is rather restrictive and promotion of tobacco products is highly regulated.

Best of luck

If you want legal advice you should consult a legal professional. You aren't going to get any kind of sound legal advice that you can soundly act on from an internet forum.

Sorry thought I'd already put my location on my profile, but I'll check it on the laptop.

All the governing body say is it can't conflict with the current events sponsors and be acceptable for TV.

McLaren have a Vape sponsorship at the moment, which is what made me think about a vape company sponsoring me.

Using that as a guide, you should be fine with displaying vaping sponsors logos and slogans anytime you are not playing in the UK/EU/US and/or on television.

Little update, I've done some research and I've found a professional pool player who is sponsored by a Vape shop so I've emailed a company that sponsors football teams in Scotland and have a shop in local to me.

I was thinking of doing a post on here asking if any of the companies or suppliers would be interested in sponsoring me, but I'm not sure which section and if I would be allowed to do a post like that on here.
