Hi all, I'm new to vaping and i have quit smoking for 22 months. I just ordered the new eleaf 30 watt istick today (as it's just been released in the uk) and am buying a kanger sub tank mini for it. I haven't bought it yet, but I'm feeling nervous about buying and rebuilding it. I Couldn't find anything on you tube that would help as all reviews are mainly on the original sub tank. Can anybody help me please? There isn't anybody I know that could physically show me where I'm from in UK. I need some basic equipment but I'm not sure what to buy. Any advice would be helpful Thank you..

Hey mate, welcome!

I get why you're stressed, but the way the mini RTA works is exactly the same as the full subtank, with only little changes like the size of the juice channels -- it's a pretty standardized design. You won't wick it any differently really than what you've seen in the various youtubes. :)

Honestly, if you are new to this my advice would be to enjoy the Subtank Mini with the pre-built Kanger coils. It comes with two - a 0.5-ohm and 1.2-ohm. I have been building my own coils for RTAs and drippers for a year, and still find that it is a lot easier and hassle free to use the Kanger coils on my Subtank and Subtank Mini rather than build the deck.

The nice thing about the Kanger is that you can use either when you are comfortable building your own. It's nice to have the option and right now I'm being lazy and prefer the premade coils, which is the main reason I bought the Kanger tanks.

You can do either with the OCC coils: replacing the cotton and dry-burning or making your own coil and wicking it through the bottom (don't follow the tutorials that have you taking off the top).

The only thing I'd keep in mind is that the coils are chromed brass, so if rebuilding for the umpteenth time you should probably be on the lookout for it wearing off, especially around the threading, and then consider retiring that coil.

I think its a great atomiser to try/begin building with. Considering that the build deck is very similar to any Kayfun, you could get a lot of info from any Kayfun tutorial. As far as basic equipment, that could also be answered while watching said tutorials but you could get by with just Kanthal, 2-3 mm rod, and finger nail clippers. The Kanger subtank mini comes with Japanese cotton so you'll be fine there. Pbusaro's review of the mini and nano has a rebuild tutorial at the 42:00 mark
