This is really putting myself out there, so to speak, but wanted to get any of your opinions on some music I'm writing and recording for a movie I'm scoring. The music is going to be a mixture of orchestral, rock instrumental, and possibly rock vocals (haven't quite talked myself into putting my voice on tape as lead vocalist yet), and I've completed the pre-production writing and planning for the score. I've just started on production, and have begun uploading mixes for review by the producer and editor of the movie.
First, some things to keep in mind. These are in WMA Lossless format strictly to keep the quality as good as I can get it without having a huge file. But these files are about 8 MB's per 1 minute of recorded music, so they can still be quite large compared to a typical WMA or MP3 file. Also, there will be many edits of the same song going up, and I will be labeling them as such so you can tell which is the latest 'version' of the song, but the final production mix will be uploaded in WMA Lossless, MP3, and WMA versions. Only WMA Lossless for the 'works-in-progress', though. And until a song is 'complete', there could be re-records of some of the parts that transforms the song quite a bit as it moves from first draft to final. I know with one song I'm currently working through, I'm quite unhappy with two of the guitar parts and am re-recording them tomorrow, but it's only because I played through a 6 hour session the other night and actually built up quite a blood blister on my middle finger of my fretting hand. If you hear the part where it sounds like I'm not hitting all the notes I might want to be hitting, it's because I was literally bleeding all over the strings. 8-o I just thought it'd be fun to share this process with all of my new friends here and find out what you guys think.
Anywhoo, here's the link.
