After smoking 2 packs a day for over 35 years, e-cigs have finally helped me quit tobacco for good! I'm 51 and all these years of heavy smoking started to take their toll...it was my turn to have an ambulance ride about 18 months ago. The cardiologist basically told me quit or die. I tried pills, patches, gum, nothing lasted. I saw a display at a local stop and rob store for e-cigs and I thought "Why not give it a try". To my delight, my doctor wholeheartedly approved so here I am. I started off with njoy disposables, and then their rechargeable version. I've just recently switched all my hardware to Smokeless Image and am very happy. Best of all, I don't smoke cigarettes anymore!! I think I'm at the stage where vaping is no longer a way of quitting smoking, and now a hobby to enjoy tinkering with different hardware and e-liquid selections.

I learned the value of getting involved with an internet enthusiast group a long time ago and belong to forums for my motorcycle, cars, home theater, being a grandparent, gardening, and a few others. I hope to both learn and make some contributions here.

Welcome Lucky777, I am a noob to this forum and the huge world of vaping too. I too began many years ago with the Njoy, and they didn't work for me, went back to the analogs for years. When I became a "Voltie", my world changed! No analogs since 8/31/12 and even though it has only been days, I feel better already. My doctor too encouraged me to try e-cigs...and I held off for a while (silly me) - now I am looking forward to my break even day when the amount I would have spent on the stinkys equal the amount I paid to acquire my vaping equipment, juices, etc. Congrats for quitting the analogs and happy health to you!

I too had some health concerns and after many failed attemtps to quit I was not even trying anymore. I have esmoked on and off for several years but was not completely satifisfied with the equiptment and options that were out then and utlimatley went back to analogs. Of all my attempts to quit though this had come the closest to succeding. So I bought some new stuff and went at it again and have not touched a cig since Jan 09, 2012,,,,, I couldnt be happier. I feel much better and dont miss the cigs at all. Even with all the stuff I have bought since then I have saved tons of money. Now if only I could get the Wifey on board. At this point I realy can not imagine ever going back , even if I was unable to vape for some unforseen reason. I do not have any fellow vapers around to encourage my success but feel great about it. If no one else has told you. Great job! I too enjoy my new hobby and even though I have tried to reduce my nic levels ( 24 to 6 ) I m not concerned or even interested in quitting vaping lol.

Good for you, Lucky!! Proud for you. I have a very similar story. I knew I had to quit or die, but couldn't. I was addicted. 2 packs a day for 50 years takes a toll. But I stopped smoking last November and haven't been tempted, thanks to vaping. And, my doctor also approves plus my teeth are now white. Health issues aside, vaping is also cheaper. Smokes here run around $58 a carton, which lasted me less then a week.

Good for you Tony! keep making converts, saving lives!

Way to go Lucky!! It has been 56 Days for me, 2+ packs a day.
I have converted 3 people so far. My goal is to help one person a week get off Cigarettes.
Hard to do when some tell "I Like Smoking"?? (that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard)
Even though I smoked, I Never liked it!
Vaping I like, sorry but will also quit.
